Opinions needed...No Rules Pearl or Code Black?
« on: June 07, 2017, 01:44:23 PM »
I'm going to trade my Daredevil Pearl for either a Code Black or a No Rules Pearl. They are both good balls and I currently have the No Rules Solid. If it were you what would you get?  I'm also open to other balls. Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Below is what I currently have:

Sure Lock
No Rules
Lane #1 Pro V
Hammer Bad Intentions Hybrid
IQ Tour Solid
Hy-Road
IQ Tour 30
Timeless
Daredevil (trading)
900 Global Black Ops

Getting from my current league:
DV8 Pitbull
Ebi Maverick
Quantum Fire Pearl

JMC,

That’s a pretty strong line-up there.   LOL.

There are some interesting videos regarding the two balls on YouTube by a fellow named Tom Sorce.  He reviews the NRP, DD, and CB separately.  As you may know already, the NRP and the DD have the same coverstock.  The only major difference between the two balls is the core or weight block.  Or course, the NRP is stronger, but not by an extreme amount.

What I see from the videos is that the NRP is earlier and stronger than the CB, and it can be used on a higher volume of oil.  The coverstock looks to be quicker off of the end of the pattern than the CB, too.

Check out the video (s) here:

Also, in my opinion, you might want to consider what you really want out of the ball.  You have some overlap competition in your arsenal.   LOL.  I don’t see much for Medium-Light to Light conditions.

The NRP, DD, and CB are not dry lanes balls.   LOL.

Consider the Roto Grip Wreck Em or the new Storm Match UP’s (Solid or Pearl) to possibly complete the arsenal.

Also, with Bowl Expo only being a few weeks away, consider holding out for a few weeks until we start to see what some of the other companies are putting out.

I personally want to buy the NRP (on sale), but I decided to wait until the newer equipment is announced at Bowl Expo.  After hearing about the new No Rules Exist coming, I’m a waiting patiently to see what the ball looks like before I spend some of my tax refund on the new balls.  LOL.  Good Luck!

Peace!

I said the same thing..... you need to purchase a light oil ball (or 2) to blend out your arsenal.

Thanks for the responses. I have the quantum fire Pearl coming soon for light/med conditions along with plans to purchase a Grind/R for Medium. I don't have a massive rev Rate - only about 300 which has allowed me to use my spare ball on most dry patterns.

I'm trading my Daredevil straight across and have been offered the CB and the NRP

Man, you have a lot of overlap in there. Especially at the top with the Sure Lock, No Rules, and Pitbull. But since none of those would affect your decision lets forget about them for a second.

The next tier as I see it is the Maverick, Bad Intentions Hybrid, and Pro V (if it's not dead). This is where the No Rules Pearl would fit and it is different than anything else.

Then we have the Code Black, Timeless, and Quantum Fire Pearl. The first two might be pushing the above tier but I would have them somewhat weaker. This is where the Dare Devil would be too.

After that it's the Hy-Road, !Q Tour Solid, !Q Tour 30, and Black Ops. Nothing much needs to be added to this range.

There isn't something quite like the No Rules Pearl otherwise and that's what I would go for. Overlap will happen either way. Is there a reason you want to trade the Dare Devil though? That seems to stand out from the grouping I have it in.

NRP all the way.  It's an amazing ball that will surprise you on how versatile it is.

Thanks!!!

I don't use the DD because of the 2 timeless (1-pin up, 1-Pin down). That along with having the quantum fire Pearl soon I am looking for something a bit stronger yet weaker than my heavy oil gear, and that's where the NRP or CB come in.

At the top they are all drilled quite different which has thus far been good on the PBA Scorpion and Tokyo patterns. The No Rules is drilled Pin out at the ring finger while the Surelock is pin up and stacked. I'm getting the Pitbull simply because it's one of the balls I get from the league we are in. This one, I'm planning on punching up extremely aggressive (if for nothing else than to have fun with it and see what it does).

I forgot to mention that I have the originals of the Phantom and Rhino Pro Teal which I use in extremely dry patterns.

I think I'll go with the NRP on this trade and will get my hands on the Code Black and Code Red soon.

Thanks!!!!

I have a lot of the same pieces in my bag and the ball I would suggest is the roto grip hectic. Great piece for when the heads are blown up or when you can play the burn off the gutter.

To the original question I have both a NRP and code black. I feel my code black handles volume better. The NRP tumbles more going down the lane. Haven't found a condition where it will be the ball of choice over the code black.
