RS-X Coverstock Questions/Thoughts....
« on: April 05, 2005, 02:08:55 AM »
It is any relation to the coverstock from the X-Factor Vertigo?  It sure does seem like it, and for the roto-guys to be toting this as a hook monster it seems like that would be the logical choice of coverstock coming from the Storm pours.  Or is it something unique to roto-grip?  I see it comes factory polished which should help it get up the lane a bit, but like my good friend bowlingmytmouse's thread it looks like this thing is just going to rev so early off the hand and keep going.  Looking like something else is out there that is going to give that "Ultimate" look on the lanes ...hint hint, lol

So is this where the ball was meant to be, a "Solid RS-1" or just a big hooking ball with the same motor?  As strong as the RS-1 is in the midlane, I can't imagine anything stronger or earlier.  I guess this is going to be another "West-Coast Ball" (...us East Coast bowlers need to patent this phrase!), where you guys have the oil up front to use such a ball.

Actually the coverstock on the Vertigo is not even the same urethane vendor has our Oracle Vision or RS-X.  Covers are different.  I know looking at the specs and cover you would think early burn, but I promise this new material has plenty of gas for the backend.  That, plus being reactive, polished and symmetrical this ball will still have good midlane with out being too early.

We are just trying to keep up with the changes in the industry regarding the new lane oils being used primarily on tour and elsewhere.  Longer lasting, stronger product that holds its own against some of the larger companies products.

Thanks,

Yes, unique ... it's the Oracle Vision base formula (in solid form) ..sounds like a Chemistry teacher )

Yes.....yes

Hey,...midwest has plenty of oil too!

Could turn out to be the best 1-2 punch out there !

Or..... 2 RS-X, one polished, one smooth, and an RS-1 ....LOOK OUT!

How will the RS-X compare to the Rush??  You'll have to forgive me, but I'm still having a hard time predicting a ball's reaction based on the numbers alone....Figures....I tell the wife I'm DONE buying balls and now there's more to want!!

Nollster,

you could probably use the Rush and RS-X on the same pattern, however...the RSX will give you more and bigger on the back....

while the Rush will be smoother overall.......

different shape...

Roger,...yes?

Jeff -
Since I've been getting better with my release/increasing my ball speed, my Rush is just KILLER!!  It's actually been moving pretty hugely for me -- from about 5 at the break to the pocket or past...It's smooth, but it's BIG smooth!!

Nollster, makese sense...

RSX is going to flare a lot more though....so thus my "bigger overall" comment,...+ probably more on the backend too.......

specs suggest something that'll be similar to UI?  i'm not sure how the coverstocks will differ, but realistically, what current ball would RS-X most resemble (strength, look, angularity, midlane, etc)?

Honestly I don't think that there is a ball on the market that can compare to it.

Consider these numbers(all for 16#)

RS-1:
Diff: .59
RG: 2.48
Coverstock: 1500 polished Sure GripT Pearl Reactive

Ultimate Inferno:
Diff: .05
RG: 2.463
Coverstock: Activatorâ„¢
Aggressive Reactive 800 grit wet sand

Even the WOMNB doesn't even has as much diff.
The fact that this ball is coming out of the box 1500 polished, means that this ball is gonna HOOK A TON.  But will bowlers be able to handle the early read of this ball???

BMM,
look what Roger wrote here.....remember, it's the Vision coverstock base formula,...so it's going to have length while still reading the lane well (like the OV)

Roger said it doesn't read too early, ....I'd have to go with him...I'm sure he's thrown AND seen this ball thrown a bit

It's gonna be sweet!!!

It's got a bigger diff than the UI, but not quite as low of an RG.....

P.S. diff on symetricals and asymetricals can be very deceiving (i.e.; your comparison to the WoMB) Even w/ .044, the WoMB flares!

But I think my RS1 flares more than the WoMB

I would be interested how Roger's test ball is laid out.  I mean we can stop all the speculating now if Roger just sends me one
