Punching up a Mercury

I've decided to punch up a Mercury, probably later today, for those "crispier" lane conditions and for a consistent look down and in on a fresh shot. This will be my first Roto ball, although I've played Storm quite a bit, so I'm pretty excited.

Any good experiences or opinions with the Mercury? Thanks!

The Mercury has saved me many times.   When the heads are dry, which is typical in one of the houses that I bowl in (and that is "Fresh" oil).  The Mercury moves the easiest through the heads for me, while other balls start their movements too soon.  I have the ball drilled about 5 x 5, and it still isn't snappy.  It is definitely an arcing ball.  When there is longer oil, I don't even think about using it.  Overall it gives me good control on drier and messier light oil shots.

I just got mine drilled. I don't find this an arcing ball at all. It's more of a controlled skid flip. Mine is drilled with the fingers above the pin and CG kicked to the right with small xhole. The ball goes through the heads amazingly easy with a defined breakpoint. It is extremly smooth, though it covers more boards on lighter oil then I care for. Tonight I was playing pretty deep with it but still shot alright. It isn't the hardest hitting ball there is but it keeps the pins low. My only real negative about it is when it goes high flush, it tends to leave more 9 pins and 4's then anything else I own. On a medium pattern two night ago I shot very well with it. Just a killer reaction that night. I have yet to see what it does on heavier oil, but I have another ball for that just in case. I may get another Rotogrip for heavier oil in the future since I seem to like RotoGrip so far. However, this ball is definitly my first ball out of the bag from now on.

Thanks for the responses! Sounds like a good piece overall and I can't wait to try it. I got really busy and didn't have time to punch her up yet... Probably today but I won't get a chance to throw it until Monday. I'll let you all know.

Also, I have to clarify... This isn't actually my "first" Roto ball... I've had my Spare Tire for a little while now, LOL! This will be my first non-plastic Roto ball.
