RS-X Question.
« on: June 03, 2005, 02:28:34 AM »
Just bought my first RotoGrip, using the information gathered on this site.
Threw a few shots with the new ball, still needs some drilling adjustments.
At first was not happy with ball reaction, did anyone find that they needed
to burn off was/polish from the cover before it started to react?  Thanks in advance for your responses.

I found I got too much over under with mine until I did some surface prep. I took a Burgandy scotch brite to it and used storm step 1 and then 3m rubbing compound , which roughly takes it to around 1000 grit vs the 1500 factory polish. Good luck

Hey, guy, it always "DEPENDS" on 3 or 4 thousand factors. Slight modifications of a ball's surface or even a re-drill (wait until you throw it on a few different oil patterns, a few times each before you "jump the gun".) is no big woop. 9 times out of 10 even the best guess wrong.

Mike,

That is very common from Storm Manufactured bowling balls, (storm/roto/dyno/circle).  Our finishing process shines the ball so highly off the lathe that many bowlers have told me they find the best results after a few games.  What some people do is take the surface down to 600, then put a light coat of Storm Reacta Shine on top of that.

Thanks,

I've thrown 8-10 games with the new RSX, and I agree with your comment. The ball is reacting better as I put on more mileage! I am not ready to alter the surface just yet...want to get a few more games in to make sure I am doing the right thing. All in all...very happy with the RSX.

Thanks for all of the input.  Thought I was missing something after reading
all of the previous reveiws.  I guess we will have to put a few more games
on the ball before making any cover changes.
