Rush

Although a few of the people around here using it have not had any success at all, I really want to try one out. For those of you that have used it, can you tell me what you feel are the positives, and negatives about the ball?

If anyone has one they do not care for, would you be willing to trade it away.....16lb only please.

thanks

Sent message.

I don't get the strong midlane reaction that I keep hearing and reading about.  Length and strong backend on DRY backends.  Any carrydown prevents this Rush from turning the corner.

I'm considering redrilling my Rush.  Mine's drilled 5x4.

Bob,

Try pin at 4" or so (4x4, 4x3). That 5" is dangerous territory for many people. Many, many balls require serious dry or a lot of revs for a 5" pin to be effective.

Weakness: Not a good ball in medium heavy to heavy oil, will not work in any kind/amount of carry down, very much a condition ball.   Works better on fresh or cleaner conditions.

Then ROTO has some 'splaining to do.  All their promo material for the Rush call it a medium to heavy condition ball.

Bob,

Unless you're just joking here (didn't see any smiley face), why are you taking one person's opinion/experience as the generic be-all and end-all definition of the Rush?

I know people who can use an Inferno on "true" dry and those who use an Eraser pearl on "true" heavy. So what? Every ball's utility depends on the drilling, the cover and the bowler's hand/delivery/release/style. Of course, some poeple will use this ball on medium-light AND won't be able to use it on carrydown. Also some other people will be able to use it on medium-heavy and with carrydown. That's life.

Here's a specific example:
I suggested a Silver Streak to a buddy; in fact, gave him my NIB one. I was shocked as it skidded 65 feet on a medium pattern with a stacked leverage drilling. I had to sand it to 600 grit and leave it dull for him to get any use out of it. He has few revs, true, but even he has more hand that that. I am replacing the SS with a Turbo Diesel and PRAYING it will be more useful to him. I am taking the SS, redrilling it for me and am betting it will make a left turn for me and it won't be with a stacked leverage drilling either.

Bob, I'm surprised at you.

Agreed.  You're pretty far from your PAP at 5".  The closer that pin is to your PAP, the sooner the ball will want to hook - and vice versa.  The closer to 3 3/8", the stronger your backend will be due to maximum flare.

You can also dull the ball to get it to hook sooner.

According to Chip Zielke in his books "Revolutions I/II", the core plays the largest part in determining mid-lane roll - and the Rush is definitely a low-RG ball.

I have one drilled 3x5.  Ball gets into a fairly early roll but still gets decent length.  Ball is very smooth at the transition and the hit is decent.  I have used it in a heavier oil house playing straight up 8 and had trouble getting it to the pocket.  I find the ball is better used on a medium to medium light oil played inside.  I havent used it on the sport shot yet but imagine it would work well on it.  What do you have to trade????

You are correct, and I am in the wrong here.  I'm so frustrated and it's getting to the keyboard.

I will delete my previous post on this matter and consider my wrists slapped.

Bob,

Please! You know I wasn't trying to "slap your wrists". Only trying to get you to realize what you were saying. There's a few people disappointed in the Golden Nugget also.

My only strong suggestion, to everyone everywhere, is to not be in such a rush to buy a new ball and drill it haphazardly. YOu don't know if the ball suits you where you want to use, nor do we know what is the best and safest way to drill it. Let the testers do their job, you compile the facts and then make a decision. They get free balls and several of them to play with. We pay for the balls and pay again if we screw up the drilling.

WOW!!!

all i really think  is that maybe you should second guess the horrible layouts and give the ball a chance.
maybe you should reconsider your ball driller. or something to that effect!!!
