PURE FUEL
« on: December 30, 2003, 10:05:27 PM »
Only ball that I've ever purchased USED. I have it modified for fit and have yet to use it.

My question is the BALL SURFACE. When I rub my hand on the surface of the ball it IS rougher then any other ball I have (in this example I'll use my TOP FUEL). My question is .. is the ROUGH (to feel) surface as it would have been on purchase or is it a possibility that the surface was adjusted in some way?

Joe, I have a Pure Fuel as well,  and when I took it down to 600 before I put a slight polish on it, it too had a rougher feeling surface.  It's smooth now that I put a light coat on, but yes, mine felt rough when I took it down.

It is strange to me .. is it done to handle a specific condition? It's the first time I come across this finish ..

Joe,

When you say rough it makes me think you are speaking of the particles in the cover.  I would guess that is what you are talking about.  Also it handles best on medium to medium with carry down (as long as its not too shiny).

Thanks,

Roger, I know you're the expert here bud, but I have a good number of games on my PF and it doesn't like carrydown much....you CAN use it in a litle, but you'll have to move a few boards w/ your feet to get it thru. That's why I took mine down to 600 then brought back a shine to it so it's underskin so-to-speak is a little rougher so it reads midlane just a bit better.

But this is just my personal experience I wanted to share.....people with more hand can probably use it better in carrydown than superfluffer over here

Still love it though! Mine is 3x5 by the way, MB in the track area.....
