rogue cell or cell pearl?
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:00:35 AM »
So i am going to drill a hy road from strom and i want a ball to be above it...but i dont want to drill a vg,dimension or cell because i hardly ever see the quantity of oil that i need to use them.
So which of these two balls you guys recommend me to have one step above the hy road..i want to have a nice gap between both balls.
Thanks a lot

My main concern is that the cell pearl gets to close to the hy road..do u think that with two different drillings can i create a gap?

The Cell Pearl is naturally stronger ball because of the core. Go with a stronger layout and it will fit the bill perfectly. Don't let the hybrid cover fool you the Rogue has the strongest cover ever made by Roto and they advertise that in the ball description. Cell Pearl will be a great option for you though.

I'm going to have to disagree, after throwing 2 different cell pearls, and 2 different hyroads... the hyroad is stronger then the cell pearl, so the cell pearl won't go above it unless you do surface prep and a insanely stronger drilling. The 2nd dimension is what you want, and drill it strong, it will be right above the hyroad!

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag...some magic, some hot sauce, and a saw.. how can I loose?

How about a T Road Solid to go above the Hyroad? Seems like it would compliment it very nicely and once the T Road Solid started over reacting at all you could go to the Hyroad. I have a Cell Pearl and will be buying a Hyroad in the coming weeks hopefully. They should compliment each other well.

Get anything but "not" the T-Road solid. For 1 thing it's for heavy oil. I recommended it ( based on the reviews here) to a friend. He got it and the ball cracked at the bridge in 20 games. He had it replaced and the second ball cracked in the same place in 3 games! He kept using it and a small chunk came out after 25 games. The ball is only 13 lbs. and his speed is about 11 mph. I wonder how the heavier balls would hold up for bowlers with much higher speed.

I am sure it's not the driller. He has 35 years experience and has drilled many balls for me with no problems. Not the lanes either: we bowl together. I would stay away from R2S "solid" coverstock( the R2S hybrid seems OK).

You "could" either get another Hy-Road and drill it stronger or get a solid Cell and drill it weaker. Solid Cell is quite versatile (for me) and gets down the lane fine if you don't have high rev rates.

I had a T-Road Solid for a while, no such cracking problems. I probably put 200 games on the ball, then I gave it to a friend who has been throwing it for around a year. Don't know why your friend's did crack, but I doubt it's an ongoing problem.

The Hy-Road is little stronger than the Cell Pearl.  Both are great balls.
2nd Dimension would be my choice.
Good Luck!

Have had Cell pearl and have two Hyroads and a 2nd Dimension. The 2D is the ball you want.

Well the hy road is a hybrid cover stock the rouge cell might be the complement your looking for. It's a hybrid as well.
