Last night was my Wednesday night league that I have been killing this year. In practice I started with about 10 in a row, then changed balls to find a different look if needed later. Then the fun started.
First game was front 3, then a ten pin spare. Went next 4, then another ten pin. Finish the 10th for 258. Next game I start with another ten pin, then went next 10 until the fill ball. I double dribbled it and left a sloppy 8 pin for 289. Last game I threw what I thought was the best rolled ball of the night. It grabbed early and I went thru the nose for a 4-10. I made a small adjustment for the next 3. The 5th and 6th frames were very poor shots. I leaked the 5th WAY out right and it caught too much dry. Got 8/. The 6th I had a brain fart and decided to put something extra on the ball. Got it into the middle puddle, ball skated, and left a 2-4. Converted that and made a very large adjustment. I had the next 5 until the fill ball where I left a 4 pin for 244. That 791 was my best series ever, besting my previous high by 22 pins.
Tonight showed me just how incredibly good (and maybe a little bit lucky) you have to be to shoot 800. I made 2 mistakes all night and that was 1 too many, even with 28 strikes.
In the last month, I've now had a new high series, a 300, and a 298. The ball? A Roto-Grip Epic...the best ball I've ever thrown.
