Title: Scream versus the Roto Sonic X pearl
Post by: LuckyLefty on October 20, 2012, 05:42:52 PM
For years I have owned the Sonic X solid, Sonic X pearl, and the Sonic Boom.

Lately I discovered the house I bowl in for league has a shot that when practicing the Sonic the shot lenghtens and the Sonic Boom rules!

But when league shows up the shot stays very short on the left and the Boom is a bust!

I pulled out my frequently used Sonic X solid and it wasn't enough on this Prodigy oil shot.  While owning the pocket it left either a 7 or 10 over and over.  Switched to my Sonic X pearl and for the first time EVER since I've owned it it was noticeably stronger than the solid and flushed beautifully shot after shot!  It had never worked before for me ANYWHERE!

Roto Experts who have thrown both balls....Is the Scream noticeably stronger than the Sonic X pearl?  Their specs look similar but....different.

Wish I could help you. Lefty. I'm still waiting for someone to review the Scream as well. For me personally I have a three ball arsenal of Sonic-x's and Ultra-Sonics.

Two of the Sonic-X's are drilled the same but with slightly different surface preps. The 3rd one is drilled for more length. I use the 'Tommy Jones' layout on the two drilled the same.

On my Ultras, I have one drilled 'Tommy Jones', one drilled pin down, cg out; and the last one is drilled Rico.

Whenever I start leaving corners, one of those balls will solve the issue.

Had a decent game and almost good set with the Sonic X Pearl last night!  Note again this ball has NEVER worked for me ever till now!   Note I have the solid too!

The oil keeps getting longer looking all night (Prodigy).  Became a little too little last game but surprisingly strong on this jumpy shot!  Then as the oil lenghtened might have been a good time for the Sonic Boom.  I'll be ready next week!
