RSX and Polishing
« on: March 21, 2007, 09:22:12 AM »
The Rsx is polished to 1500 and Roto Grip recomends Storm Reacta Shine lets supose that someone uses Storm Xtra Shine on the ball which says that it finishes to 3500 what effect would this have on the reaction on the ball?

Minimal, depending on how you polish the ball.

Those numbers are maximums; it depends on many different factors. Some of them are:
- what sanded grit are you starting with? (400, 600,800, 1000, 1500, 2000???)
- how much polish are you applying?
- how long are you leaving the ball on the spinner?
- how fresh a cloth are you using?
- what type of cloth are you using?
- How hard are you pressing on the cloth/applicator?

and so on and so on.

Personally, I use only Xtra Shine, not Reacta Shine. Depending on where you start (the sanded ball:400, 600, to as much as 4000 grit, etc), you can achieve almost any level of gloss you desire with Xtra Shine alone. Apply a little for a very short time with little pressure (maybe 800 grit, with a barely perceptible shine) to a lot of polish, with a lot of pressure for a long time (3500 grit with a super high gloss, very reflective shine).
