Cell Pearl in BTM Mag
« on: September 20, 2008, 11:33:53 AM »
I just seen the new October Issue!

Torque: 7.5
Length: 14
Backend: 16.5
Total Hook: 49

By looking at these numbers it appears that the Cell Pearl is going to have good length and a strong turn in the backend. And still handle some oil in the process.

Oddly, those are the almost same numbers as the Legends World Class Reactive .... only difference is Length = 14.5.

I haven't gotten my issue yet. What are the numbers for oil/medium/dry for stroker/twwener/cranker?

The torque is higher on the Cell Pearl as well so that is another difference.

Actually not. Last time I posted something to the same effect: observe the copyright laws. Mr. King came on and said he was glad to be quoted, as long as we gave him the proper credit.

Nope, not acording to this BTM chart:
http://www.allbowling.com/downloads/Balls.xls

7.5 for both Cell pearl and WCR.
FYI 7.0 vs 7.5 is statistically insignificant.

A flippy pearl is not the ball to be using on sport shots.  This ball SHOULD get those numbers.  Rarely will a huge backend-type ball be effective of sport shots.

Exactly. Sport numbers are going to be based on smoother, control type of pieces. Flippier balls will always get bad sport numbers. This is not to say these can not be drilled or surfaced to be more controllable, but the majority of the time BTM and BJI use them out of box as long as they can with the factory surface on them. BJI will occasionally scuff for longer patterns.

If this ball is this flippy, it would probably be great on Sport after the shot has been broken down enough to create some recovery room. If you are in a 5-8 game qualifier, game 5-7 might be perfect to pull this type of reaction out. If you kept it close, you might be able to "sprint" to a check or the finals during those games.
