shatter replacement :(
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:24:26 AM »
i bought a shatter off one of my buddies, my first roto grip ball after plugging and redrilling it, ive loved it, now i think it's time to replace it i had mine sanded down using a 1,000, then 4,000 abralon pad but i know it's supposed to be polished. as for my replacement for the ball, what do you guys think i should get? id prefer a solid coverstock because i have the most recovery with it. i feel hybrid covers give me an over under type reaction and polished just never seem to want to recover as well but i'll work with what every ball is recomended. id like to stay in the RG line but anyball that is comperable to it would be nice

The only ball that is current with this core, is the Wrecker. See if you can find a Shooting Star, that was the solid with the Neutron core. You should be able to find one NIB, I would think.

That would be the Wrecker

wrecker is a hybrid, not a fan of hybrids

Aggressive in what way? Overall aggressiveness would be the Disturbed because of its oil capability.

You asked for a ball slightly stronger with a little more backend than the Shatter. That would be the Wrecker especially if you used the same surface prep as your Shatter. Throw out the notion that it's a hybrid. Pearls usually show more over/under but it seems you really liked the Shatter with the surface changed. The Wrecker is the most similar but slightly stronger and changing the surface would eliminate any over/under for the most part.

I had good success with one and I believe it was BillDozer on here who couldn't let go of his Wrecker. It's a really good ball

Anything else stronger in the Roto lineup would be smoother

I agree with SVstar34 ---if you want a ball with the Neutron core the Wrecker will be your best bet, then adjust the cover to your liking. Or you can  try and find a Shooting Star that is a solid. The Wrecker will have more "pop" /  movement in the backend.

Nothing rolls like the shatter. The Wrecker is the closest with more motion overall and board coverage. I agree with whats already been said, other than that, the Uproar I believe uses the same cover. Had all 3, all 3 were beasts.

I got two wreckers! 8)

You'll never find a better ball for its price point...
Looks, and performance are there..
I had averaged approx 240 for the last 15ish weeks...its just a stronger and slightly earlier shatter....you can add surface to get it to roll like a solid...or add  slip agent to get more length like a shatter.

If u desire that neutron core, look no further...u won't regret it.not
