Hi,

I have seen these at a resaonable price on Ebay. What do you think of this ball and is it worth picking up?

I don't think too many people really liked the ball. I had one and got rid of it almost immediately as it did not fill the slot I intended it for. I have a Cell Pearl drilled the same way that I like much better. Perhaps the Cell and Cell Pearl were so good they set the bar too high?

Pin under pearl, some length but with an arc rather than a snap. Anarchy would have been a better choice.

I had a MCP drilled at the layout below and I did not like it at all. I seemed to have too much midlane read and not much of a finish at the pin deck. It was too little ball for throwing in the middle of the lane and too much ball for trying to stay right and throw down the first or second arrow. As I was writing off the ball, Chris at Buddies suggested I give the ball a second try with a weaker drill by putting the pin above the bridge in the gripline and the MB pretty much in the thumbhole (e.g. - a 85 x 5 x 35 layout). The new layout made all the difference in the world with more length before the break but with a much better controlled break. It is now one of my "go-to" balls for medium dry conditions.

Have one myself and love it, pin above bridge cg in midline and mb in the strong postion, very smooth

My MCP is drilled with the pin above and to the right of the ring finger, with the CG and MB stacked under with a weight hole. It's the actual ball that T.J. Trout used in the video on videoballreviews.com. While I don't throw as hard as T.J., I do appreciate the consistent reaction that I get from the MCP. I keep mine at 4000 grit abralon to even out the reaction. I use it when my Anarchy grabs too early in the back. I've shot several great scores with mine including a 300. If I was going to buy another one, I would probably put the MB in the thumb hole. That would be a good way to keep it from being too jumpy on the back and would be a good compliment to what I already have.

I've seen them selling on Ebay fairly cheap. It seems like a low risk investment regardless of the outcome.

I actually found it quite punchy on the backends. The issue I saw was that I think there was a pretty big gap between the Mutant Cell and the Pearl. While the Mutant Cell could handle heavy oil volumes, the Pearl was pin straight with medium-heavy conditions. However, on Medium and medium-light, the ball really moved.

Probably, it's still a good option for THS, especially with the summer approaching and lanes playing lighter.
