Rogue Cell Video and 1st Impressions
« on: March 01, 2009, 01:17:16 PM »
I finally received my highly anticipated Rogues Friday and got around to throwing them today.  This ball will have some shelf appeal.  I received several comments about how nice the ball looked.

The condition was a left over house shot from the night before but there was still significant oil downlane.  The heads were OK and there was a little burn in the track.  This particular house use to be extremely easy (I've averaged close to 240 there before) but this year they've gone longer with seemingly less volume.  No defined bounce and there is an OB if you are too far right downlane. Not like most house shots in this area.  When I go with stronger covers, I'm forced in and carry suffers because of lack of angle. With weaker shells you loose the recovery right or as they break down become very over/under.

The Rogue seemed to match up very well, especially the high pin one.  Blended the pattern very well.  Although there was a little burn, recovery or hit didn't suffer at all.  When compared to the Cell, both responded much quicker to the friction and opened the lane up much more for me.  You can see the few shots with the regular Cell when I missed slightly in how it wiggled.  The Rogue still had the guts to turn the corner.  The Pearl Cell was no match for this condition.  Too strong when I missed a little right and not enough when missed in.

I can't wait to get it on fresh but it seems to be exactly a matchup I've been wanting/needing. I absolutely love the Cell and it's been one of the most versatile balls I've had.  I've always wished it had a little more recovery when I needed to get deep as they've broken down but I still wanted the read of the solid.  Great compliment to the original Cell!

I don't know,

I just believe that people with higher revs do better with the Cell line, which is why big Wes does so well with it. I could never get out the ten pin with the cell, I could get to the hole just fine, but just could not carry consistent at all. The Rogue does look like a beast though.

What's the difference in flare you get between the 2 layouts?

I'm decidedly not a high rev guy, but I carry just fine with my Cell... provided I have a lot of oil to get it down the lane.  I have a 5.5" pin to PAP layout (pin under middle finger) and keep mine at 2000 abralon plus a light coat of polish, and it still needs a lot of oil up front to work best.  However, when I do see slicker conditions, the carry is great.  When there's less oil, put it up.  That's why there are pearls and weaker coverstock balls.

The volume wasn't heavy enough to really see but I was easily getting at least 5" on both.  The Nucleus core maintains it's flare even at long pins so the 6.25" pin one still flared significantly.  However, it's migration started later than the pin down one.  I'll let you know when I see a little more volume up front.

You might as well go ahead and order two of them LOL...

That was my mistake with my Cell parl. I have decent hand, and i drilled it 5 inch pin to PAP, that thing flared every bit of 6-7 inches. Which made it puke way to often. should have went 6 inch to PAP

This video is nice I like when you went straighter classic RG 9 pin you haven't really bowled with a RG ball until you leave a nine like that.  Those that bowl with RG know what I am talking about.  The best part about watching each ball is the readable reaction each piece had.  The reactions jumped out at me more then anything else smooth yet aggressive.  Good work fellow RAIDER
