SD-73s at the Nationals
« on: May 22, 2007, 08:10:29 AM »
Question for Roto Grip users.  Going to the Nationals in about 3 weeks and I am trying to decide what I am going to take.  I have two SD-73s drilled and I was wondering how anyone has faired using theirs at the tournament?  I have decided on taking my Neptune, Mystic and spare ball. Trying to decide on whether to take the SDs, Secret Agent or a few other solid balls. Any input is welcome.  Thanks!!

I used a combo of RS-X,Odyssey,Mystic.
Horizon was too skid/flippy.

SD-73 didn't make the trip based om Hank b. recommendation for my game.

bass,
I'm going to Nationals in a few weeks and I'm trying to decide whether to take my SD-73.  Your stats are pretty close to mine (Rev Rate/Speed) so I'm wondering why the SD-73 doesn't matchup out there.

From what I saw (not on our crossings), the SD-73 will match up well.  I had a good look with mine the first game but we unfortunately crossed with some heavy handed players to breakdown was probably more extreme than others.  The Mystic and Horizon Pearl got plenty of action.

My Vision was too over/under.

My Battle@ 800 polish gave a good look but didn't carry well.

My Horizon Pearl @ 1000grit worked great and gave a good look.

morph,
I only took 6 balls and Hank B. layed put a Mystic and an Odyssey for me.
He didn't care for the layout on my SD. thats why it didn't make the trip.

A guy that was sitting next to me on the plane from Florida shot a high
1900's with mainly a SD-73. He raved about the ball and the layout was
a 5 X 4 layout. He said that was his main ball !

I have benn using my SD's more and more.  I would highly reccomend bringing the SD-73 to Reno.  The surface is very adjustable and you cannot deny the back end and hit.

I used a Vision and a Mystic.

I bowled D/S at 11:40 my pairs were heavily beaten up by some guys who played all over the place during the 9:20 squad.  I used the Mystic for all of the D/S I moved outside of the previous bowlers and was able to eek out a plus all-events total.

My big regret was that I missed the move during the last game of Team event.  The carrydown took a while to develop and I missed the adjustment in the 6th frame of game three. The resulting 160 game hurt but I was able to walk away with 598.
