Question on Drilling a Top Fuel
« on: January 06, 2004, 05:11:04 PM »
I am looking for suggestions on drilling a Top Fuel for my customer.
He is a med speed, med revs stroker. Lanes are brand new synthetics, dry
outside 5 and heavier in the middle.
My customer is looking for a stronger midlane reaction, but still retaining
a decent backend. He likes to play more of a deeper inside line. Original drill was pin above ring finger about 1" (4" pin out), the CG just outside the palm, and the mb to the right of the thumb. This drilling sent the ball way too long, never could get the ball to turn the corner.
Please suggest a good drilling for heavier conditions, decent midlane roll, and
good backend while playing a deeper inside line. Any additional questions please email me or message me here.

Thanks,

Jeffrevs,
The original drill (not done by me) was supposed to be a 4 x 3 drilling. I apologize but I did measure the ball when it was brought into me for where the actual pin to pap measurement ended up and I think that it ended up more like a 5 x 4 than a 4 x 3. We originally looked at layout C on the drill sheet. Looking for moderate flare potential and strong mid-lane and backend. MB in the b position for medium length and angular backend. I am now thinking that layout D may be a better choice for an even stronger mid-lane. We looked at the layout together and he went to someone else to have it drilled. I think that because he likes to play deeper inside that layout D will fit his style better. Hope this gives you more information to help. Thanks.

Todd, if he likes inside, he'll need the MB in the strong position. If it was a 5 inch pin to pap instead of 4, that's the difference right there.

I'd go 4x3 or 4 strong for inside, mb in the strong position.

Did you ever try a ball surface change to it?
Might be worth a try and its quicker than a full plug job.
free agency it is until i get a better offer.   LMAO
