epic battle drill question
« on: October 17, 2006, 01:26:21 PM »
i have a battle and from all i have rad this ball should be much stronger than it is . Mine is set up with the 4inch pin to pap with the pin below the ring finger. I like the ball ,but i never have any area with it. If i have a line to the pocket its money ,but when that line goes away and i try to move left ,only a board or two , the ball wont recover. If i try to move into the oil it just doesnt turn up. Its funny ,it carries well even when it shouldnt, but every shot I am only seeing 3 to 5 boards of movement.
I was bowling with it sunday and as long as the line i was playing held up it was great ,but when the ball started to come in too strong and i tried to move left it just dies. I have to stand in the same spot and try to throw harder which is really bad for me. Just switch balls you say . I did that and i had nothing that would even come close to the pocket. Is mine drilled to weak or is it me.

It's probably burning up.

toomany - how about a video of a couple shots?  That would probably be the best as then we could see what you are seeing and can tell you what's going on more definitively.  The Battle is a ball that hooks, but it needs oil to retain energy.  Without seeing anything else or knowing your game, I'd go along with Prophet and say it is probably burning up.

I had a Battle. It is not the balls fault your house is not putting out a shot that you can use it on where you can be successful. I tried numerous cover tweaks, lines the whole gorilla and was very disappointed that I could not use this ball more. I would 3rd the burn up scenario.

I also agree that the ball is burning up too soon.  I have a Battle drilled similar to yours and I can only use it on heavier oil shots or heavy carrydown.

Where is the mass bias located? If it is in the track area (left of thumb for a righty), it might screw up ball dynamics and even cause negative flare. The ball will not finish well. This could be a technical explanation, but the lack of oil is another, most probable explanation.

I can cover more boards with the Epic Battle, but
had to tweek the cover and polish it. Very strong,
but would burn out on even medium to medium wets
sometimes.
