Sonic Boom
« on: November 18, 2004, 11:08:11 AM »
I am getting ready to order a new Sonic Boom.  I am buying this for dry lane conditions, So what I am wondering what type of drilling should I use on this?  About me I am a cranker, medium to low speed revs medium to high.  High track and bowling on synthetic lanes if that matters.  Currently I have a Hammer Wheel, Intense Inferno, Brunswick Xtreme.  Backends are so dry that the Intense takes off way too soon and if I bury it deep it wont come back at all.  I am just afraid that if I go too agressive with the drilling I am going to be in the same spot.

Also the Xtreme is polished up and wont roll to the pocket just keeps hooking.

any help is much appreciated!

thank you

-John

The inferno will be stronger than the sonic, so I wouldn't worry about it.  But, due to your stats, I'd go with something like a 5 x 5 or 4.5 x 5 whatever, to give you some length.  And keep in mind you can always alter the surface to get the reaction you desire, like polishing it if need be.

Hope that helps even a little.

the Sonic series is for lighter to lighter-mediums volumes of oil...they are NOT designed for dry!  I just don't want you to be dissapointed ...the Boom will move!  Depends on your definition of dry....

Well Jeff, I was going off what he said, that his intense inferno is too much.  And though I have a lack of R/G knowledge, wouldn't the sonic be fairly weaker (longer) than the inferno?

Thanks for the info guys!  with what I am reading I think I will go with the Sonic Boom and get a urethane.  I think that will be a decent light oil setup.

I am always amazed at the knowledge of the this board.  Keep it up!
