I've never gotten the straight of it... is it just a pancake core with a small nugget or what???

NOt really.

I believe it is a low density core(due to high rg) but the core shape with middle so much bigger than the top and bottom of core gives strong midlane.

See pulse core at columbia 300.  Not much different.  Or compare to all LAne 1 cores.  wider middles = more midlane!  Nice!

Definitely not a pancake. For light medium, this is by far my favorite ball. It's actually getting better with age. Has paid for itself, 20 times over.

Thanks, and the Sonic X and Boom look to have the EXACT same core, but they have different RG Diff's... what's different that I'm not seeing?

Also... is there truly ENOUGH difference to have both the Sonic X and Boom, or can you get by with either? I know which one hooks more, but is it THAT much more to need both?

Depends on what you bowl on and what else you got.

I've stopped using my Sonic X and carry the Boom.

But I'm not bowling on bone dry. I'm bowling on light volume but long patterns.
The sonic boom is in the bag.  Same lookin core just different densities.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS Both are drilled the same.  3 3/4 by 3 1/4 or stacked!  Boom gives me just a touch of area to miss left and not leave washouts!

Ric,
I think you'd be better served having the Sonic X and then waiting for the Ultra Sonic in December!  (.035 diff) vs. (.o29) in the Boom.......

Ric,

I had both the Sonic X pearl and the Boom. They are too close to carry both (with the same drilling). I agree with Jeff that you should wait for the Ultra if you want a different look than the SX Pearl.
