I think the hilarious thing about bowling balls and their releases is that people on this site cry and complain until they get a certain type of ball from a company, then when the company finally bites and comes out with it, it doesn't sell because everyone complains that it doesn't hook enough and the company has to discontinue it, or lose money from bad sales because the ball is still in the lineup and not selling. Look at the XXL, V2 Dry, Red Pearl Urethane Hammer, Blazing Inferno(bad choice discontinuing this), Barbed Wire, and the list goes on and on. If people would just drill the low end stuff for what condition it's meant for then alot of bowlers would be happier with the performance they get. I never understood the concept of taking a weak ball and maxing out it's hook potential, if the ball is supposed to be meant for dry lanes, drill it weak and use it on dry and don't complain when you can't get it to work on your league's house shot.
Now I'm not making this post in reverence to the sonic X pearl but trust me, if there was a Pearl Urethane Sonic ball with that big block of a core you probaly wouldn't like the reaction or see dry enough conditions to justify using it. Stop going stacked leverage on every piece of dry lane equipment and put more 5x5,, 6 x 5, 5 x 4, 1 x 1's in the low end equipment. You'll find much better results. Trust me, I've seen heavy handed people use Sonic Booms and Sonic Solids on torched up conditions, they just had good drillings in them.
