Sonic X
« on: February 18, 2004, 04:48:36 PM »
I have a SonicX that was drilled to go go to long not happy with that drilling I thought I woud get more back end. 5 x 4 1/2. I took it to the pro shop and told him that I was think of redrilling so I can get nore backend. he said that redrilling bowling ball is not a good idea it would not react the same. I never heard of that. I thought it did not make a difference if a bowling ball was plugged and redrilled. I'm I right or wrong.

He's wrong, unless the way you want it redrilled will make you track over all of the plugs, but it shouldn't make that much difference..........

I've had MANY balls replugged and they were just fine!

Hi omega -

It is true that the more you plug and re-drill a ball, the more of its original characteristics will be lost.  The reason?  Because you are drilling more and more of the surface and core out of a ball and replacing it with plug - which obviously is not going to 100% identical to what was in you ball originally.

That being said, if this is a brand new ball and this is your first plug/redrill to it, I can't imagine that it would affect the ball that much.  You should be able to plug/redrill once without affecting the characteristics that much.

Yes it would first plug and redrill for this ball. I wonder If he just wants me to buy another bowling ball?
