Lucky, I never had much luck with the X Line. For me they were
More like spare balls. Now the Sonic Boom is to die for. For my
Wednesday league, I use the Super Sonic or Venus for the first
two games. By the third game with 10 bowlers rolling similar
lines the condition you stated exists. "sloppy type synthetics"
That is when the Sonic Boom comes out to finish off the set.


When I think about it the hole Sonic line should have been
named Taylormade. To coin a fraise, "Smooth as a prom queens
thighs but not quite so risky.

Lucky, The Sonic X's were not drilled particularly weak. Pin below
fingers on centerline, CG kicked 2" to the strong side. In the
ballpark of 4-1/2 by 2-1/2.

If I leaned on the X solid the results were OK but I prefer to use
balls where my adjustments are board/mark or speed. When I need to
start making release changes other than maybe staying under the
ball more my game can go ugly early.

I ended up giving them to some of my high school bowlers that are
always in need of something to replace a house ball or Mom's plastic
ball.

Don't get me wrong, I love R-G but like all ball manufactures, some
core/coverstocks are a poor fit to some bowlers.

For me I usually follow the rule that less is better and for the most
part that rule has held true. The X's were just to weak for my ability
but the Boom, Super Sonic and Venus are just what the doctor ordered.
