How to drill Spare Tire to not wobble
« on: May 20, 2005, 06:54:38 AM »
I just picked up a Spare Tire and want it to have the effect of a tire on a car and rotate smoothly and not appear as if the lugs are loose as most of these I have seen drilled...14 02   top weight 3.75   my PAP is 5 over and 1 1/8 up...There were no instructions included and do not exist on the website....I assume these to be pin in since there is not a pin to be seen and what I take as a punch mark to be both pin and cg ?   If I place my PAP on the center of the wheel and the cg in the center of palm will this give me a smooth appearance going down the lane?   Thanks, Alzgarvin

It should as long as you can throw it end over end (over the thumbhole).  If you naturally tend to hook the ball it will look as if it is wobbling down the lane no matter what the drilling.  I can not flatten my hand 100% so I would not be able to achieve the look you desire from the Spare Tire.

Or you can put the center of the lug pattern on your Positive Axis Point and hope you can get the side weight back to legal again.  I saw someone do this with a Storm Football and it look pretty cool, but it had a HUGE weight hole in it.
