I'm having some troubles on dryer lanes. i currently use an emerald vibe and a rayzr for dryer lanes, but want to get one ball to over lap both of them. the next ball up from those 2 is my 2nd dimension which is my go to ball. out of the neptune and natural, which do you feel would be a better choice? thanks!
-
I have had both, currently only using a Natural. Everyone's dry is different. For me, the Neptune was too strong when the lanes got dry. The Natural has been great! The Neptune has that reactive backend snap The Natural, being urethane, does not. It is very even and predictable and a joy to throw. It's your choice: reactive backend or urethane gentle curve. For me, the gentle curve is much easier to control.

I think both have there place. Players that can "supply" the power might be better off with a Natural. Stroker/Tweeners might like the Neptune better because of the back end movement.
I got a chance to try out a Natural at a Storm forecast and it was very slow off the friction. I almost left a pocket 5-8 on one shot.

i do throw the ball with a bit of hand but i do want that backend kick when it hits the dry. i think im going to go with the neptune. unfortunately.. my pro shop can not get the neptune anymore, said it was discontinued? how is the mars compared to the neptune? sorry for all the questions..
-
The Mars is going to be slightly earlier due to it being a hybrid cover opposed to a reactive cover but the core still remains the same.
When you say you are looking for something for dry lanes, do you mean lanes that have been broken down in the heads? Or do you mean a pattern that is short and the ball overreacts at the end of the pattern?

The neptune is a great ball.too bad it is discontinued cause the MARS isn''t a good replacement for it.. The neptune is a strange ball.. on burnt heads and mids the ball will hold the line and won''t overhook.. but if you have some oil up front and clean backends the ball will have a super big backend.. atleast with how mine is drilled.. Id look online.. bowlingball.com has em for 69.99 right now.. but only to 13 lbs.. they have a 16 and 15 on ebay for 91 with free shipping..

Neptune isn't weak enough for dry. Here's a video I made and you can see when I get it out to the dry boards on a house shot it reacts pretty strong...and I don't have much hand at all.

when i say dry, i mean either burnt up where everything else over hooks, or its just too short of a pattern for the rest of my equipment. my vibe is too strong and my rayzr is too weak of a ball to hit at times. i was looking at the neptune and was hoping it would overlap both balls so i didnt need to bring both the rayzr and vibe. but since they discontinued the neptune, i was thinking about going with a mars. i dont like buying balls over the internet. just a loyalty thing to my proshop guy.

I owned a Neptune at one point, and I own a Natural now. The Neptune is WAY stronger than advertised. Very very aggressive off the dry. I had two completely different drillings for it, and each one was over-reactive and jumpy. I think the best bet for super dry lanes would be the urethane or older resin equipment. I find myself using gear with Storm's old Accu-Tread coverstock on the dryer stuff - still that familiar resin reaction shape, but the ability to have it on toasty lanes.

For players with a fair amount of revs who don't want to throw urethane or plastic, I'd have to recommend either 900 Global's Link or Brunswick's Avalanche Slide. Even my Columbia 300 Loud NoiZe is weaker than my Neptune...not a lot, but it reacts smoother off the dry.

Mars is a great ball but too strong on a burnt up condition
I usually use it first game out of the bag its my go to ball
if you want something more tame try a freeze from columbia
or avalanche slide
or Link from Global
the natural is nice as well but can take some getting used to if you have never bowled with urethane before,
you have to really hit the pocket a little more flush and be much more consistent with urethane stuff compared to resin equipment
maybe look for an older resin type ball,
I just recently drilled and AMF Hawk that I found NIB and it works great on drier conditions that 1 of my leagues has
-
sorry 385 revs and 16mph is not a rev dominant shot by any means,
I throw between 450-500 revs (most of the time depending on the shot) and around 18-19mph and I really dont consider myself a rev dominating player
the natural simply does not carry as well as reactive resin products
theres no other way to explain it
it is not a bad product at all but it does not have the carry reactive does
the vibe is a much stronger than advertised product
if you want something that is tame and still carrys well look for some older reactive resin balls, something like the rhino pro line
turbo x
danger zone
etc.
you can still find some of them out there NIB for a good price

well that obvious since its a urethane ball so its naturally not going to carry as well
thats exactly my point, so I would look into a very very mild reactive ball instead of using urethane
I bowled with urethane for years when there was nothing else around and the reactive balls have made the game much easier,
so I dont know why you would want to use something harder to score with,

none of the three balls u listed are less that the nueptune..

Neptune was pretty strong for me,
thats why I suggested looking into an older Reactive ball, like something from the mid to late 90's
