Rotogrip Mars
« on: December 01, 2009, 03:55:18 PM »
My wife has a Storm El-Nino 2000 and she loves the way it goes down the lane. She just has difficulties when the lanes get drier.
I was thinking of getting her a mars for Christmas. Is the Mars a ball that has the same type of reaction as her El-Nino? Or is it more skid-snap?

Thanks for your reaction.

Mahjong,

Mars is a very different reaction than an El Nino 2000.  The El Nino will start it's roll earlier whereas the Mars will get down dry lanes further.  On dry lanes the Mars will have more energy left for some level of ball reaction due to a milder cover and higher RG core.

The shorter answer is that the Mars would be a good choice for what you described, but don't give the impression that it is the same type of reaction.  She will still need to adjust after a ball change.

Not knowing the speed your wife throws at, or how her El Nino ball is laid out, makes this a difficult reponse.

Also, it's been quite a while since I've seen an El Nino thrown, so that makes it doubly hard to compare.

But I will say this, most pearls of any kind are skid-snappish on clean, dry backends.

The Mars will offer your wife good control, with a very smooth transition on the backend, followed by good energy at the pindeck. This is a very good ball for the conditions you describe.
