I have a somewhat stacked layout on an earlier rolling Cell Pearl, ball seems to burn up just before the midlane and leaves little on the backend, only really works on wet/dry conditions.  I'm a high tracker so I'm thinking 4000 polished, what do you guys think?

IMHO P4000 grit matte is equivalent to the stock 1500 grit (US) polished in length, maybe even slightly earlier.

You can try it and see.

If you're having trouble getting the stock surface thru the heads, try P4000 grit + polish as a first attempt. As a 2nd attempt, try a milder ball, like a Nomad Pearl or even milder.
