SURVEY: Roto-Grip MYSTIC Owners - How do you like it?
« on: May 30, 2007, 04:31:14 AM »
Hey Roto & BR Family,

The subject says it all.

For all you Mystic owners, how do you like it?
How is it laid out, surface prepped and how does it fit in your arsenal?

I have a used Mystic in awesome shape fom dave300 (Thanks man!) with pin under bridge with CG kicked out with x-hole (see pic below). I am going to keep this layout (just going to plug and re-drill for my span) since our spans are about the same and I seem to match up well with pin under layouts as well. I'm crossing my fingers!

Thanks in advance!
Regads,
Ram

My go to ball drilled pin above bridge and cg out no wieght hole clean threw the front and just the right amount of pop. This ball has gotten me out of a hard spot or two.

I believe it was Tracy Jordan who (kind of) said:

I love this [ball] so much, I want to take it behind a middle school and get it pregnant.

Easily the smoothest and hardest hitting ball I have ever thrown!! This ball is a pure monster and no slouch on the backends either.  I have mine punched with everything under the bridge, sorry I forgot the pin to PAP measurements, with no WH.  But what I love is this balls ability to smooth out the jumpy backends without giving up carry or the ability to cover boards. I have mine at about 3000...mmm perfection.  Out of box it was just a tad to jumpy so I took off the high polish to smooth it out.  You have a great ball there...RIP ro mine, it cracked but my driller is getting me another

Easily my favorite ball in the arsenal.  First out of the bag and oftentimes last.     It's my goto ball when I'm a little lost, or if I just need to smooth out the overall look.  Responds very well to hand changes so it's easy to use for severe transitions.  Just ordered 2 more.

My is pin under ring, 5" from axis.  Weighthole 6" at 45* from center of grip in thumb quadrant.  2000grit Abralon with periodic hand sanding with burgundy scrotchbrite.

I like my Mystic so much, I purchased 2 more RG balls and put all of my Brunswick equipment up for sale.  No, seriously.

I went back to throwing the ball natural (without inserts or thumb slug) and the ball is money.

I like how this ball smooths out the backend.  I got it to be my "I'm confused" ball or my ball to play straighter in junky conditions.

Great ball i will end up with 3 of these before they go away in the future, also the odyssey is very good i have collected 3 of those with different surfaces and drillings. The last 2 odyssey's i have won on ebay for 79.95 and 89.00 so they might be pro cg but gives a something, the odyssey is a whole lotta bowling ball.

The Mystic out hooks my Shift on the same lanes conditions, the Shift is touchy to carrydown and the Mystic allows me to stay up the track where i live or die.

Funny, I did the same. Night and day, as far as reaction when it comes to Brunswick vs Roto-grip. Moving on, get a Mystic, its one of those balls everyone likes. I can't put into words how good this ball is.

Mahalo (thank you)

The Horizon Solid and Neptune should be on my doorstep when I get home this evening.    When the time comes, I may pick up a Battle or Odyssey.

To everyone,

Thanks for the responses and you guys are awesome!

This is my 2nd go-around with Roto-Grip. I had the Battle, but it just seemed to roll a bit too early for me. If it were me, I'd drill another one to not burn up as quick as my last one. Still a nice piece though.

Can't wait to try this out. With all the great praise, I hope mine is just as good!

Thanks everyone,
Ramski

Ram,

How did you have your Battle drilled?  I was thinking about getting one for longer/heavier oil.

Hey Rod,

I had my Battle drilled with Pin next to ring finger and MB about 1 1/2" - 2 inches right of thumb. Good ball for oil and was rolly for me with that layout. There's a vid of it in my profile. Check it out if you wish.

Take care!

I love the ball. It's tough choice between it and the Epic Odyssey for my favorite Roto Grip ball in the current lineup. It has amazing power and hit for a pearl bowling ball. I had a 692 tonight with the Mystic. Enough said.
