Average lifespan of a RG ball...

I realized something today.  I bowl a lot.  Mon, Wed, and Fri at the base bowling center, it's FREE from 11am until 1pm.  Every Mon, Wed and Fri I bowl at least 10 games or more of practice.

In my bag are the Riot, Dark Star, Mars and soon to be Storm Invasion and Natural.

I take very good care of my equipment.  Clean after every session, never leaving them in the car during the hot summer months.

I know it's kind of a vague question but oh well.

With proper maintenance, the performance may diminish somewhat over time. But they should last many hundreds of games. You will eventually need a resurfacing and an oil extraction. How soon depends on the cleanliness of the lanes you are bowling on. Possibly between 150-400 games. Sometimes you can do a minor touch up of surface to keep the reaction the same, like every 30-50 games or so. Hope this helps!

I've been throwing RG for atleast since I was 17, I'm 23 now. I've had a decent amount of RG balls from the silver streak solid to the Cell n pluto. I've never had any real lost of reaction or ball death. As long as you keep up a decent maintenance schedule you should have no real problem. That's one of the huge reason I throw RG. Good quality at a great price.

I have 4 roto balls in my bag over 200 games. (Cell, Cell, Cell Pearl, Pluto) Then I have a Rogue getting close to 200 as well. I do hot water baths every other month during the bowling season for solid balls and twice a year for pearls.

I have had great luck with just about all storm and roto grip balls. Hell I had a Eraser PBT that I threw for 200+ games then gifted it down to a friend who threw it for another 2-3 years as his primary piece too.

It's pretty simple.. clean em on a fairly regular basis and they last for pretty much ever.

A lot depends on the oil absorption rates of each individual ball as well. The stronger the ball, the higher the oil absorption rates tend to be. Balls like the Mars, Riot and Dark Star shouldn't absorb oil too quickly. Balls like the Invasion will suck it up hardcore.

But it is good that you take care of your equipment by cleaning it. Storm would recommend more frequent resurfacing than the other posters here seem to, they'd probably tell you to do it every 60 games or so using their new resurfacing methods.

i have 2 mutant cells, i clean them regularly -- and they both dont seem to be as they were oob-- not many games either, maybe 25-35.  has anyone else had thier mc seem too quit?

have an original Cell purchased Jan 2008.  IMHO, it Is as strong as it was when I first got it. I baked it about 4 months ago and restored to factory finish after finding out the correct method.  it is still a main ball in my bag.  I had to order 2 more to last me until 2015 LOL

easy10.... just keep cleaning them and they will be fine. they will need a cover-touch up eventually.  pooh and rotoguy said great info as well!!

own all roto and have never had a problem with life span or reaction... just clean them regularly and put refresh the surface every 40-50 games or so

Have you tried having the proshop extract the oil out of it by chemical or heat?

I have 2 Original Cells and they are still good after 300+ games. Don't soak up too much oil and not too many scratches.

But my Mutant Cell would EAT oil like mad and since my house always has heavy oil it would become shiny after a game or 2 and turns into a "medium" ball? Maybe it's a good thing I hardly have to move all night, lol!

I have to de-oil( just use the sun) every 15 games and TONS of oil would come out! It seems to absorb 3 times more oil than the Original.

I clean my ball every time after use but I only rate the Mutant 7/10 but the Original close to 10/10.
