Probably on a line between the Riot and the Grenade.

Thanks CBomb and Roto Heads,
I  am currently trying to get a Roto Grip 4 ball arsenal going, I already have the "Infinite Theory and Critical Theory" so I'm now looking for two balls to go under those weapons of mass destruction =-)

I think I would like a solid and also a pearl but thats totally changeable. I've been looking at the "Riot", "Nomad Dagger", and "Risng Star" and "Dark Star" just to name a few.

So far the "Dark Star" is at the top of the list, anyway I bowl in 3 leagues and everyone is waaay different even though its in the same house.

I would go Nomad Dagger for medium conditions and then go Rising Star on the dry.  The Dagger works really well and I like how the hybrid cover reads the mids a little earlier but gives you a nice controlled backend that keeps energy.  I've been very successful using this ball and it works well both going up the boards or playing deeper.  Only thing to watch for is that there can be a little bit of over/under on the fresh.  That is when I break out the Anarchy or in some cases, the Nano to burn up the oil a bit first.

The Rising Star is going to be more similar to the Riot, albeit 1-3 boards stronger.  I think it's the better buy compared to the Riot because the hybrid cover gives a little more versatility.  Compared to the Dark Star, it is going to be several boards stronger and is cleaner up front.  If you enjoy swinging it, it's nice in that it will be strong off the spot and stores more energy than the Dark Star.  If up the boards is more your style, it works equally as well.  In fact, the Rising Star is one of my favorite balls to throw.

In either case, these 2 balls would be and are a great combination to tackle the medium to light conditions you may face.  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions on either of these as I use them on a regular basis.

My arsenal

Medium-Heavy Oil: Storm Anarchy: 1500 polished
Medium Oil: Roto Grip Nomad Dagger: 1500 polished

Thanks guys, Ok, so I now have the Critical Theory, Infinite Theory, and The Rising Star. And let me say that all 3 of

these are great balls, as today I tried the Rising Star in practice and I couldn't believe how nice of a consistant roll it

gave me...and hi-scores game after game. So now I need the last piece of the puzzle so I was thinking that the

Dark Star should fit the bill for those conditions when the Rising Star is to strong...yes, no ??

That sounds about right. Still, you may want to consider a polished Riot as your "weak" ball just to give you a different look with the solid vs. a pearl.

I think the Dark Star is that necessary 1/2 step down from the Rising Star if you want a true alternative in hook power and oil handling.

But, unless you have secret local resource, the Dark Star has been discontinued and I have seen very few currently on any internet seller's list. Better hurry!

I agree.  If you can find a Dark Star, it will provide the necessary step down from the Rising Star.  However, a polished Riot can work equally as well.  This is because the Riot has a weaker core than the Rising Star does.  However, the Dark Star uses the same core as the Riot (both were released together).

I took your guy's advice and got the RIOT to go under my SHINING STAR although I'm having my driller bring it up to 4K abralon with a mice coat of polish.

Hehe, I was my friend, however, I was reading such good things about the "Critical Theory" that I thought I would try one so I did and thats all that was necessary to win me over to RG.

After the CT I then tried the Infinite Theory and that was a great ball also =-) then I tried the Rising Star and well, now I'm loving Roto gear.

Well, I just picked up my new RIOT and it looks great at 4K and highly polished so maybe I'll be able to use it to night in league...

It has been the only ball I have been using lately.  Here in the NoCal East Bay, the centers are all putting out less and less oil in attempt to control the scoring pace.  I bowled the Storm National Mixed in Reno this past weekend and the pattern was so light, I used it for all 9 games.

Wish I had another Dark Star, I have Rising Star and its a good ball, but way to much mid on dry lanes for me....the Dark Star got down the lane so much better.....I use the Rising Star on true mediums and its money, but once the heads or mids go, its too early for me

@Big Jake: I have been using my Riot with various surface preps. This ball is an absolute winner at all surface preps. So far I've use it in box condition on medium heavy; at 3000 on medium dry; and now I'm having great success highly polished with a little scuff to it to take the shine off, on dry lanes.

I already was a Hammer/Roto guy, but I am starting to lean more heavily toward Roto Grip! Good bowling with your new pieces.
