The Riot
« on: July 12, 2010, 12:59:37 PM »

Haven't heard much about this ball, which "appears" to be a good ball for the price.

How does it compare to the Grand Illusion (with the same coverstock)? or Hyroad?

Thanks in advance!

I have thrown the Riot. It is a wonderful piece of equipment. It seems to be an easy arcing ball, great for when the lanes start breaking down.

It gives nice easy length, and a smooth arc, when everybody else's balls are checking up, or diving thru the nose.

I have not thrown the Grand Illusion or the Hyroad, but from what I've seen, both of those balls are considerably stronger and more continuous, thru the pocket area.

I like mine too. Pretty melow tame ball which can be a real asset for bowlers with high rev rates or for hooking lanes. I drilled mine with the pin in my middle finger with the cg stacked. Allows me to move in and hook the lane or pipe it up the boards depending on the condition....

Might just be how we match up, but I would say that the Riot is anything but mellow. Every one I have drilled hooks quite a bit and both of mine are no exception. I actually have a tough time throwing em because of how I match up to them as far as where they roll and how strong. That being said, a lot of the folks I have drilled em for have liked em, but they're usually more rotationally challenged than I. They've liked em as medium balls for closer to an entry type price.

I agree with Jesse.  With the drier summer shot out, the Riot is what I pull out first.
