Now up on ROTO's website: Defiant Soul, Disturbed, Wrecker
« on: November 28, 2012, 12:57:01 PM »
They are now up on their site.

http://www.rotogrip.com/balls/defiant-soul
http://www.rotogrip.com/balls/disturbed
http://www.rotogrip.com/balls/wrecker

Check out the core in the Disturbed. It was reported on some website that the Disturbed was gonna have a lower RG and lower RG Differential (2.50 / .43) than the ball it is replacing, the Outlaw (2.57 / .48). But that information must have been mistaken because the numbers appear to be the same but with a different shaped core.

Out of them all the Disturbed interests me the most. Will this ball be in the mid-high price range say around $190?

Can anyone figure out how the Wrecker differs from the Rising Star?

Except color?

Is Rotogrip telling how it differs?

Pro shop prices vary.  Id assume it will retail for 115-120 online.

It looks like the Wrecker might be more on the solid side of hybrid than the Rising Star is. The Rising always looked pearl to me and the way it reacts in the back end, it "acts" like it is more on the pearl side.

One thing the RG line has always been is new releases intertwine perfectly with "old" releases. For example, the Berserk was a medium/upper line hybrid that replaced the Nomad Daggers spot. Berserk apppears to be more solid based and also came factory 4000 vs Daggers looking more pearl and coming reacta shined.

The Disturbed catches my eye as that is a classic Hank weight block design. From what I gathered at a couple of Roto seminars, Hank likes to design blocks that if you use a large thumb hole in (any kind of interchangable thumb system with 1 1/2" bits or larger), you should miss more of the block than other weight block designs. The Cell started this trend and it has continued on thru the higher end releases. This way the core dynamics are not "gutted" out when you add these craters for a thumb hole.

Anyway, everything looks like classic Roto Grip moves and should all compliment any of us "Roto heads" in the crowd.

I was talking about this at bowling.  Rising star and Wrecker have exact same specs.  2.55 / .042.  Both hybrids.  Rising Star is Ultimate Vision and Wrecker is the newer coverstock.

Ric,

You bring up an interesting point here. When I got home last night, I had a group e-mail from Chris Schlemmer regarding the new Roto releases. The document that I opened up had this ball specs at 2.50 / .43 and not what the Roto website has it at (2.57 / .48).

I am going to e-mail Chris and see if he can tell me which is correct.

(added 11-29-12 at 11:02 EST) After looking at the tech sheet again, I would bet the lower number is correct. The 2.57/.48 number is what the Rotary core has speced out at.

I also asked Chris what the difference in the Wrecker cover is compared to the Rising Star. I will keep the forum posted when I get more information

OK. Chris just e-mailed me back and has this info to share.

The Disturbed specs ARE 2.50 RG and Diff .43. He is having the website corrected.

Below is a direct quote from Chris rgearding the Rising/Wrecker differences.

"As far as the Wrecker… the coverstock is completely different it is much cleaner than the Rising Star…. In fact drilled the same the Wrecker is a good 4-6 feet longer down the lane."

For PJM300,

I saw your review on the Wrecker and I know it has a different coverstock name.

Is it any different?  I can see it looks different but do you think it is more of a solid Hybrid or more of a Pearl Hybrid or exactly the same and Bluer!
