I couldn't disagree more. So much depends on drillings and paps and stats, etc. My HyRoad is way more aggressive at the break than my Cell Pearl. It's not ever so cut and dry

OOB, same drill...I agree 100% with tdub36tjt. My Cell Pearl was long and strong, HyRoad much smoother and arcy off the break.

For a benchmark between the two my choice would be the HyRoad.

I have the Cell Pearl and used to have the HyRoad.  Both balls had the pin above the bridge 5.5" from pap.

The Cell Pearl is an awesome ball.  My Cell Pearl has the pin above the bridge 5.5" from pap, MB about 1 1/2" right of thumb and no balance hole.  I like the CP much better than my old HyRoad(got rid of the hyroad).  My CP is more controllable than my hyroad was and also carry's a lot better.

My HyRoad had the pin above the bridge 5.5" from pap, cg kicked right and no balance hole.  The Hyroad has a very strong break point but was hard for me to control on tough patterns.  I also was not impressed by the carry this ball gave me.  I left a ton of corner pins with this ball.  I ended up selling it.  I was actually surprised that the hyroad didn't work well for me since I have the Troad solid and its an awesome ball.

Hope this helps.

These are very interesting comments.

What I think we have here is an extremely adaptable core/cover combo. I think this is a similar instance to the core found in the Mystic, Horizon, Horizon Solid, Illusion, and Grand Illusion.

The core is so good, that any surface change of the cover, is likely to give you a completely different look, on the lanes. Not meaniing to hi-jack this thread, to me......the Hy-Road is a very smooth piece, normally drilled.

However, if drilled very weak.....or very strong, you get a completely different piece than the usually smooth one that I'm used to seeing.

Truly, I believe that this is one of those cases that, with the right drillings,(difffernt for each), both the Hy-Road and the Cell Pearl could roll just like they were the same ball.
