Spare Tire/Drilling
« on: April 05, 2005, 04:27:00 AM »
Can anyone give me the correct method for drilling this ball. My pro shop guy isn't sure the best way to drill it to have it roll properly.

That has to be the funniest thing I've read so far today.    Seriously though, just drill it straight over the CG (or Pin if it has one).

i got it drilled last night.  i really have to flatten my wrist and just go easy on the ball.  straight off the back.  otherwise it's wobbly.

Our shop punches them up like the old helixes.

Step 1: Turn ball to the side and take a yellow grease pencil and mark the center of the Hubcap

Step 2: Align the marked center on the bowler's PAP

Step 3: Measure over to the bowler's center of grip from the PAP

Step 4: Layout & Drill

If you do not change your hand position from strike to spare, the Tire should stay still in your track.  It's hard to believe he can't "drill it right" though, if someone told me that I'd be looking for a new proshop, but explain this method to him and you should be alright.  These things have been selling like hotcakes, I think we're on our 3rd case.

I have it drilled negative with the cg shifted about 2".  Hole on my negative axis to get out the excess negative side weight.  This puts the track right on the center of the tread.  When I hook it the rim is rolling sweet, facing me at a 45 degree angle.  When I throw it straight it rolls straight for the most part, but the tire wobbles a little at the end.  This by far is the coolest way to do it.  Make sure you take your time with setting it up though and bring a current spare ball for the track.

Thanks,

You call me an "IDIOT" and you don't even know me?  Wow you're a tool...go back to your cave from whence you came little troll.

Seriously though alex, you need to chill out bro.  Learn to take things with a grain of salt before you decide to name call and talk smack to someone you don't even know.  Keep it up and you'll eventually get a reputation like Wicked has...
