Tweaking the arsenal
« on: July 31, 2013, 01:16:29 AM »
After dumping all of my EBI balls (except the Track 505T), I was looking to further tweak my arsenal.

Before asking your opinons, here are my stats and what I have:

Rev rate: 430, tweener
PAP: 4-1/4" straight across, lower track
Average speed: 19-22mph

Current Ball Arsenal
Heavy:
Roto Grip Critical Theory
Roto Grip Defiant
Roto Grip Rogue Cell

Med-Heavy:
Roto Grip Infinite Theory
Roto Grip Outlaw
Storm Hy-Road

Medium:
Track 505T
Roto Grip Nomad Dagger

Medium-Light
Storm Frantic

Typical patterns:
House #1 runs 43ft on Anvilane and is heavier in volume.
House #2 varies but is usually 38-43ft on AMF HPL with medium and medium-heavy volume.
I also bowl on some sport conditions.

As for what I have, I absolutely love my Critical Theory and the Defiant.  Those fit me extremely well when it comes to long or heavy patterns.  Same goes for my Frantic, which proved itself this year in my league on the burn as a go to ball.  So those 3 will definitely stay in the arsenal.

One overlap that I tend to have is with my Rogue Cell/Infinite Theory.  So, I was thinking of selling both of those and creating more of a step down with the Defiant Soul.

Below that, I was thinking of upgrading my Outlaw to the new Disturbed.

With that being said, I would be interested in hearing some options you guys can give.  Generally I tend to like solids/hybrids more due to having higher ball speed/medium rev rate.  But, if there are some pearl balls that you think may make sense with being versatile, feel free to include those.  I prefer to stay within Storm/Roto Grip if possible as the EBI stuff has not matched up as well with my game in the past.

I as well have a higher ball speed, I consider myself a stroker / tweener - depends on the lane condition, but my comfort zone is around 6 or 7 board -- down and in.  I have a Disturbed, with a pin down drill, you will love it. I have a Deranged on order just because of my success with the Disturbed, being a pearl version I know it will match up well for me, so that may be an option, but since I don't have it yet I am predicting that. I would strongly recommend a Rising Star, if you can find one. This is imo one of the best Roto balls ever made, and it is a hybrid. It rolls very smooth but it saves its energy for the back end, an hits so hard. I like it so much that I am going to look for another one nib.
There's two kinds of music METAL and bullshit!
