I have a BOOM...its long and often jumpy!
From my reading of reviews out here I get the idea the UltraSonic is longer and smoother?? It seems that the core for this ball(same core for Ultra and super is SMOOTHER?? than the similar boom core??)
The SuperSonic to me seems like it could be a real nice answer for when the smoothness of my Sonix Solid is needed but I need a bit more to carry??
Some roto experts to the rescue??

I have an Ultra Sonic it is super smooth but mine is drilled 5 x 4 1/2 with the pin about 2 1/2 above the the mid line above my ring finger.
I have the newer Venus it would be a better choice of easier to get newer Rotogrip balls, the Venus is very good particle pearl for a more smoothier transtion to dry boards.
Also a pro pin Saturn would not be a bad choice i have one of these cheap blems got it for like 50 shipped NIB, it is also drilled almost exactly like the Ultra Sonic but the cg is almost on my thumb. Smooth ball very nice long arc, it never stops and for 50 bucks it was a steal.

That Saturn may not be pretty enough for me to throw!
Don't know why but those ugly browns like the Wow Pearl etc can bowl good for me...but one bad night and they are in the storage closet for good! The Blues, the Reds, the silvers they can have many a bad night and still be used!

I have two UltraSonics. Both are smooth as silk. These balls are pearl/reactive blends. One is drilled 4x4 stacked. This ball is an absolute medium oil monster, when taken down to 800. It also has a little more reactive, than pearl in its coverstock. When highly polished, I can shoot down and in, both on mediums and lite oil.
My second Ultra has more pearl in its coverstock, than reactive resin. It is very smooth on lite oil and choppy conditions. It is drilled simple leverage, about a 1:30 drilling. I usually pull it out on conditions where the heads are fried or the backends are flying.
Can't go wrong either way. I never liked the jumpiness of the Boom, so I never picked one up. The SuperSonic to me, is just a very reliable piece for transitioning lanes. Reasonably good carry, with a consistent break point.
(Transitioning towards the dry, that is.)
I think you have the right idea for their useage. You are going to be pleasantly surprised, when you switch to the "Planet Series". The power of these pieces, combined with their overall smoothness is awesome.
