Good choices.  Are you planning on using these as a 2-ball arsenal (besides plastic) for a THS league, and on what kind of lanes?  How are you planning on laying them out and what kind of reactions are you looking for?

I've got a Nomad Solid coming soon (won in the Roto contest ), so I'm kind of curious what others are doing with theirs.  I'm thinking of going pin up, maybe stacked or 4x4, with no more than a 2" buffer.  I'm looking for more angle at the break, so hopefully this would do it.  All of my layouts now are pin down, and more arcy, and don't always turn the corner soon enough.  Hope the Nomad Solid will fit the bill.

Yeh, I'm looking to make this a two-ball arsenal.  I don't want the Nomad to be too strong but I want it to read the mids with a continuous finish on the backend...not looking for long or snappy with this ball.  I'm wanting the Mars to go a bit longer than the Nomad with less mid read and more backend...I need something to get down the lanes without having to force it.

I may set them up like I have my Rival and Jazz but with the pin up on the Mars instead of down like I have on the Jazz...although that pin-down Jazz is friggin' sweet and will be hard to replace.  I may have to include it and make a three-ball arsenal drilling the Nomad a little stronger and the Mars a bit weaker.

Heck, I'm not really sure what I want them to do...I'll figure that out later...LOL...I may just drill them the same and let the core/cover dictate what they do...

I would say if you drill the Nomad with your favorite pin position, you both will get the look you want. I drilled mine a little weaker for some sport/PBA type conditions and on a house shot, there is a very strong and defined movement out of this.

I have a blank that I may lay out to pick up earlier, but I have not been disappointed with the early returns on the Nomad.

For what it's worth, I got a Mars a few weeks back.  It gets a ton of natural length thanks to the high RG, low diff core and the weaker shell, so I wouldn't drill it too weak or risk having a piece that's only useful on absolutely desert dry conditions.  I put a pin down 4.5 x 4 type of layout on mine (pin under and right of ring, pretty generic kind of layout, with a flare increasing x-hole), and it's super duper smooth and very continuous.  I loved it with the OOB finish on the Cheetah pattern (since the pattern plays more front to back than side-to-side), but on a house shot, I like a little rougher surface underneath a lighter coat of polish to prevent the ball from skating too much if you get it in the oil.

I bowled in my city's Masters match play tournament on a very nasty oil pattern last weekend (basically a reverse block with zero hold inside and a huge out of bounds around 10, and every single lane played a little different!), and the Mars was a lifesaver.  After several games, everything started to read the friction entirely too early and I couldn't get the ball to push down lane.  I switched to the Mars and moved back to where I started the day and had a pretty good look at the pocket.  (I managed to finish 3rd overall for what it's worth)  It didn't jump as soon as it found the dry, but still finished hard enough to carry the corners decently well.  Not great carry, but nothing carried well in that house for anybody for more than one game!!
