Uproar compared to Shatter?
« on: February 03, 2014, 03:29:54 PM »
Just wondering how these 2 compare: as cover seems the same but lower differential on the Uproar? I just bought a used Shatter and I like the ball....

I haven't thrown an Uproar but but have seen a couple thrown in tournaments and my pro shop guy throws an Uproar and we've talked about this comparison. You're right they're the same cover but different cores. The Uproar looks to be a smoother transition/more controllable version of the Shatter with a touch less backend. From what I've seen the Uproar seems to blend out the wet/dry better. I know the Shatter can get really jumpy off the dry at times.

I was considering picking up another Shatter to save and drill for when mine is ready to be replaced but I decided once that happens I'll get an Uproar. No knock against the Shatter because I think it's a really good ball. I just think the Uproar takes everything good about the Shatter and makes it better.

Thank you. I have noticed how jumpy the Shatter can be. Great ball but it can be jumpy...

I agree with al_g.  I haven't thrown the Shatter, but did throw the Rising Star which was the first ball with the Neutron Core.  That ball was also very jumpy off the dry at times and was way stronger than advertised.

I have not seen the Uproar thrown yet. My teammate has a Shatter. He is a low rev fluffer. The shatter in his hands looks very good with great back end.

When i throw his Shatter the ball becomes a skid flip monster especially the closer I get to the dry. This is not a ball I could use on lite oil volumes however it suits him perfectly.

I've owned multiple shatters and I don't think the Uproar will be too much different than the Shatter drilled the same. I think with the lower diff. the ball will be smoother than Shatter.

Disagree.  In 15's Shatter 2.55 .042 Neutron and Uproar 2.55 .030 Late Roll 51 will show some difference.  House conditions may blend them out closer.

I'll find out in a few weeks when I get back from Texas, one will be at my house and I can compare.

Something about the new 51ML cover it's doesn't absorb as much oil as past renditions of the cover.  Oil will sit up on top of the ball to the next frame.  This isn't like the newer higher absorbing covers.  Which actually I like cuz I can wipe off with micro-fiber towel and also use Remedy RX between frames.  RG has lots of areas now covered with their equipment.  Not everything is slated towards covering a huge amount of boards and easy to read.

that's great. that means I can use it for longer. RG has never really been a board covering company though. The only ball they have that really covers boards at the moment is the Wrecker. Everything else is kind of read and roll heavy. This is why I've been throwing more RG this season than Storm.

So, have a lot of Storm staffers using RG during competition.   :)
