Both Nomads were delivered by the big brown truck today..
« on: July 16, 2009, 12:10:02 PM »
I will have to say these are 2 sweet looking balls. I especially like the looks of the Nomad Pearl. If they score as good as they look, I should be in business!! LOL. I will get them drilled up tomorrow night after work and then report back after I throw them this weekend.

I am drilling the pearl with the pin above the bridge and the solid pin above the ring finger about an inch or so and the cg out.

I look forward to hearing what you think of these balls. I got to talk to Big Wes about these balls on Saturday and he sounded excited about them but at the same time he felt the need to say "...but I haven't gotten to throw them much." That is always a little scary to hear... I hope they are good. If they are I'm going to pick them up.

Yea Wes is a friend of mine and we talked some several weeks ago when he was in Jersey bowling outside and he was using the Nomads then and said so far he really liked them but he hadn't had them long and was excited to use them some more..

Wes is a straight shooter, he will tell you what he really thinks but then again I think Wes could average 230 with my dad's (RIP dad) old Manhatten rubber ball that's over 40 years old!! LOL..

Yeah, he was a great guy to talk to. I think its great that not only was he willing to do the meet and greet for JG he was willing to actually talk to the bowlers. I know both me and a friend got a solid 5 or 10 minutes with him and he seemed to be in no hurry to get rid of us. He even seemed to take a real interest in my "super Pluto" that hooks as much as my Cell Pearl. All around great guy and a great guy to have as a new big face of the sport. I just always get a little cautious when some one qualifies a statement like he did. But on the other hand he explained exactly why he thought the balls we going to be winners and it made sense and was more than just hype. I love having him as the face of my company of choice!

Yep, Wes is good people, that's for sure. He bowled in a scratch summer league last year that I bowled in and he was always willing to talk to anyone about anything. Very down to earth guy.

No doubt Roto Grip has a good spokesman in Wes..

I was surprised to see Wes throwing the Nomads on TV in Jersey, especially when his pattern (scorpion) was out there.  He dominated that pattern with the Cell Pearl in the King of bowling shows and he seemed lost with the Nomad in his hands.  I realize he hasn't thrown them much and I'm sure Roto wanted him out there throwing the newest release, but wes + cell pearl + scorpion = 270 average!

Different lanes, totally different conditions.  The Cell Pearl may not have been a good matchup for the way they dressed the lanes for the outdoor weather influences on the oil pattern, plus the natural tendancies of the lanes they used.

Good Luck with them Jim, they are great pieces!  Be sure to post a review when you get some games on them.

These lanes outside will play nothing like properly dressed lanes inside. There are so many factors outside, too many to list. It looked like Wes threw the Cell pearl alot in Jersey and also the Nomad Pearl a few shots. I am sure he will be tearing up the lanes with whatever ball he uses this year. The guy has talent, thats for sure.

Sorry I have not put a post up after I had the Nomads drilled up. My daughter has been sick and I have had strep throat so have only been able to use them for a few games each. So far so good, but want to get a few more games on them before I give a fair opinion on what I really think.

I will say the solid is a very strong piece, more so than I thought.
