Want to try Roto again, looking for advice!!
« on: April 07, 2007, 03:20:44 PM »
Hey all you Roto-Grip gurus out there!!!  I am looking to add a ball to my arsenal to combat the only two conditions where I have a hard time carrying strikes, and that is severe mid-lane "push" where the ball loses traction to the hole, and houses around my state (Maine) that just do not have very clean backends.  I want something super aggressive and was looking at the Odyssey, as I have seen the video of it on buddies pro shop and it looked "sick", but the last time I tried Roto-Grip was around 4-5 years ago and it was a Sonic-X, and that ball hit like a marshmallow, so I got rid of it after only 30 games.  I currently throw a No Mercy, Zone Classic, and Columbia Wrath XP.  I really like the look of the Odyssey but I am hesitant from past experience to but anohter Roto ball.  Thanks for your help, and if there are any other Roto balls besides the Odyssey you suggest, please let me know, thanks!!!

From what I have seen the Odyssey is a great ball also ake a look at the Mystic it is particla pearl so it will have a little bit of traction you might have to dull the surface a bit.

Both balls are great form what I have seen.

Thank you for the responses, the Odyssey is looking like the frontrunner right now.  As soon as I make up my mind I will try to post a pic of the ball (drilled) and a review after I shoot it a few times.  Thanks for the help!!!

All I can say is that the Odyssey is the best ball I've ever thrown. That simple. I did take the cover of mine up from 1000 abralon (which is about what the bowling ball is in out of the box...not 2000 as it says in the advertisments)to a true 2000 abralon and it's been working great as a medium/heavy bowling ball for an inside line ever since. It works great at 1000 too, OOB, if you have enough oil. Carrydown is not a problem with this ball.
