What Roto Balls To Use At Nationals
« on: May 25, 2005, 01:24:45 AM »
I am going to be bowling nationals at the end of June, and was just wondering what other Roto people used and found to be successful/unsuccessful. If you could, please provide as much detail as you can (I.E. rev rate/layout/squad time/where you played/scores/etc.). The people that I have talked to who have already bowled say that its dead slick outside and bone dry in the middle, regardless if they are fresh or on the second squad. Any help would be appreciated!

I know Steven Ritcher was very successful with the Retro Resorrection and the Oracle Vision with 10:30 layouts on both. I would also recommend the RSX....Good Luck!!!!

I used an Oracle Vision Pin 5 1/2 " cg 5".  Very Stable rolling layout.

I'm lefthanded.  I played up 5-6-7.  If not for a 160 last game I would have been +.  I'll settle for -11.  We bowled 7:30pm and 7:00am.

The shot was a nice sport type condition.  Flat enough that guys who do not recognize Sport shots would say it was a hooking reverse. Bowlers who know how to play Sport Patterns had multiple angles to the pocket.  Most righthanders on the fresh had either straight up 4-5 or they could move into the third arrow area and swing it up the lane.  Although the carry was not as good from inside.

Most importantly!!! You are a victim of the people you bowl with and the people who bowled before you.  If everyone on your pair has that "Nationals Mentality" which states you have to play inside with a sanded ball.  You will be stuck having to play where your lane mates are.

I had great luck with my Super Sonic. I was able to throw it all 9 games. 1887 all events. Not too bad for two 167 games and being up all night after a damn train derailment.
