Smooth change of direction, controllable ball from Roto?
« on: May 09, 2007, 03:21:27 PM »
I've finally figured out that I prefer stuff that makes a smooth transition, nothing fancy, that I can control in tougher tournament conditions, as well as help me make dealing with transition easier on the THS.  The Pain and Mean Machine are two balls I've found this kind of reaction with, and I'm looking to try something in the Roto line for that purpose.  I want a versatile ball that transitions smoothly when it hits the dry, not too jumpy.  A hard arc, with a nice, powerful roll is what I'm looking for.  Thoughts?  A couple that I have my eye on are the Saturn and the Venus.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Proud member of the Track Legion, though I'm seeing other companies on the side.

I'm leaning towards giving the Saturn a try, as I'm looking for something to go to as the lanes break down that will not overreact on the backends.  That's my chief concern, a good heavy roll with a controllably breakpoint reaction.  The Pain was good for this, but a little stronger than I'd like, it sounds like the Saturn might be a good choice.

I cannot comment on th HS or HP, but the Saturn is a very smooth and predictable ball on med conditions, a little iffy on carrydown for me though.

The Saturn is IMHO not the choice for carrydown it is for me skittish and the cover to weak to make the corner. Now if there are some dry boards down there then possibly but you wouldn't be battling carrydown. And a particle pearl in the midprice range is what your looking for with a dull to matte finsh.

Neptune and Saturn are both $80 shipped from bowlingball.com right now.

I think you can add a coupon code and you might be able to get $10 off with Google checkout.

I have a Saturn sitting here waiting to be drilled, but I'm also looking at the Neptune.
