Looks like its a lot like its going to be slightly weaker than the Illusions. Same cover, about the same numbers but the core is much rounder which should lend itself to a smoother weaker reaction. Why is it that these aren't on the Roto site yet? Where are these going to go? Is this the new shield line?

Definitely like the looks of the Riot, looks like with that cover, core combo that it would be a great step down from my Grand Illusion.  Locke at the price point that Buddies has these listed at I would say these would be more of a replacement for the planet line instead of the shield line.

Shield is the name of the planet line.

But either way I am really eying that Dark Star as a ball under my Cell Pearl.

Oops, I stand corrected.

I am definitely thinking the Riot will wind up finding a way into my bag.

The core looks just like the Storm Jolt core.

I wouldn't bother looking it up on Storm's website - they have a bunch of the classic balls messed up and the Jolts are completely wrong.  The ballreview description is actually closer -

looks like they have replaced the illusions with the nomads (stronger coverstock formula)

and now are bringing the illusions back to go under the nomads.

Looks pretty close to the Jolt core. Its not quite the same. But I think these are going to be stronger than the Pluto and Mars but not as strong as the Nomads but pretty close, but it will give a very different look from the Nomads. I would say this is probably a response to the Freeze.

When I saw it, I thought that they modified the Jolt weightblock! It has the same shape, but they changed the numbers slightly and they put a nice coverstock on it!

The numbers come in very close to the Furious and Fast on the Storm side. I would think that RG will probably put this at the price point they had the Planet balls at which a shop owner could get in the $125-140 range. If that is the case then RG will have a strong contender in the value price point to go head-to-head with the Freeze.

I agree that the price point will probably be similar to Storm's Hot lineup of balls, but that will not put it in the price range to compete with the Freeze.  Freeze is in the Tropical/Razyr price point which still makes it the best ball for the money in that range.  Storm/Roto needs to address this space as they are loosing the advantage they once had with the Tropicals.

They are listed at 89.95 so they are in that same range.

Maybe they are in that price range.  The online e-tailers price does not necessarily directly correlate with what distributors charge the local pro shops.  I will be happy if they are price competitive with the Freeze.  The planet balls are not.  The Dark Star and Riot on paper look like good balls and if we (pro shops) can afford to sell them in the Tropical/Rayzr/Freeze price range that will help alot.

I will check with my distributor and report back to this thread with the approximate pro shop price range.

Saw these being thrown yesterday, Try It Now at a local bowling alley.

There wasn't enough oil to really judge them. One of the guys who threw it the Riot - said it reminded him of the Saturn.
