NEW TO ROTO GRIP
« on: September 18, 2013, 02:02:57 PM »
My first night of this season had some pretty dry lanes..My gear now is: Manic, Nightmare, Nightmare Terror, Reax and a IQ Pearl......All are to strong for this particular house pattern so I ordered my first Roto Grip......a Wrecker from the H2 line.
I know the wrecker isnt "weak" but it will be my only hybrid. My Manic is drilled pin up gc even in center line kicked out about an inch. If I got the same drilling on Wrecker what can I expect to be different between the 2 balls. The Manic is a lot stronger then I thought it would be. Before you ask..I dont know my axis tilt, but I have a lower track, 15 -16 mph approx 325 - 350 revs, tweener, 221 league avg, 200 sport shot avg, four 300 games....

My guess would be that the Wrecker would be stronger than your Manic with the same drilling. One way to tame that thing and make it somewhat useful on drier lanes would be to go pin down with star kicked out a couple inches. It is still going to move a lot though.....so get ready!

A pin down Manic would be preferable in my opinion.

Thanks Jesse,
I just dont want it to be limited for use on just light patterns. The pin down will burn up energy quicker but still give a sharp angle?

The wrecker is much much stronger than the manic, tame the hell out of it if you are using it for light... It probably will be slightly below your iq pearl (I own both the iq pearl and the wrecker), tame it as much as you can, and it will still be a bit stronger than what you would expect. The wrecker is an amazing ball, it simply is a lot stronger than what you bought, which most of the time is fine, unless you want to play it on shorter sport patterns.
Cheers

Its that strong and its in the H2 line? I was hoping the hybrid cover would get it to skid or go longer then the manic. I'm getting it drilled tonight..I hope its a beast on light to med volume! The Manic is much stronger then advertised but its solid cover.

Its strong off the spot on ths.  I use mine exclusively on on wood ths, and is always my first choice on dry lanes...it blends out what oil is in the middle when I get deep.

Its not the perfect choice for bone dry scorched lanes,  but will be your best ball in your current bag for dry.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

If you define "STRONGER" as more length and more backend, then the Wrecker is "stronger" than the Manic. The stock Wrecker, for the average revs, average ball speed bowler handles medium-light to medium oil.

If you define" stronger" as handles more oil, hooks earlier and hooks more with a smoother backend, then the Manic is the "stronger" ball. The stock Manic handles medium to medium heavy oil for the average revs, average ball speed bowler.

Got the Wrecker drilled up tonight. Used it on fresh house shot which is light to light medium. This is the most angular ball I ever threw and I threw a lot of balls. It hit like a ton of bricks but in 2 games I did leave 3 solid 9 pins. I think I will love this ball for the house shot. I also threw the manic to compare. The manic struggled through front where the wrecker skidded. When I tried to swing the manic it was out of gas, the Wrecker turned and crushed the pins. SO...for this oil pattern the Wrecker is stronger then the manic, and is stronger on this pattern then Nightmare, Nightmare Terror and IQ pearl....which I have used all of these balls on this pattern in the past.
The Wrecker is drilled pin above ring finger (4 inch pin) CG kicked out about 3/4 inch on mid line. Its only been 2 games but loved what I saw and he hit. League night is tomorrow and cant wait!
