Hi everyone,
I need some opinions to help me make a choice on what ball to drill up.
Some info first. Left-handed, tweener, speed between 14-15 mph,probably a little rev dominate for my speed, track about 3 inches from thumb and fingers.
Current arsenal.
Storm Virtual Gravity(oiler)
Storm T-Road Solid(benchmark)
Roto Grip Mars(benchmark(
Motiv TX-1 (Don't really match up with it)
AMF Hype urethane(fantastic on the right condition)
The one ball I'm missing is a light condition ball. I've got a couple choices,AMF Smoke,Lanemasters Hornet, Lane#1 Chainsaw or Gemstone, Hammer Razyr, Visionary Ogre urethane or Desperado.
I've bowled a couple tournaments recently where a lighter condition ball would of helped me.(The Mars is a great ball, but stronger than I thought it would be.)The Hype is great but needs oil. Would the Desperado, being a pearl urethane with a good core have the easy length with decent pop?
I also like the Lane#1 choices.

I can only speak with experience on the Smoke and Gemstone. I like them both. The Smoke I have block weighted and it is very angular.It is condition specific and I often get into trouble with it. The Gemstone has a 5" pin to pap placed high with a slight label shift(5 x 3 3/8), and it is very skid/flip. Good when you have to move inside and still have some pop on the back. It works best if there is some carry down to temper it's flip. I think I would have been able to use it more often if I had placed the pin under. I think the Desperado is your best choice. I want one for Christmas! I love my Storm Natural, and I am hoping the Desperado is a step stronger.

The Desperado is step down from the Hype, but with more length and more backend (and more apparent drive). I am fairly certain it is a step up from the Ogre Urethane which is more of a dry lanes balls.

Be careful where you put the MB on the Depserado if you decide to get one. It has a significant mass bias strength that must be taken into account when you drill it. It is not super strong but it does make a difference.

The Seismic people have also said to drill it like a resin ball. I did and am grateful for that bit of 2nd hand advice. I put pin over ring finger and the MB about 1" right of the thumb hole. I get a nice reaction so far on dryish and lightly oiled lanes.

A different look is the essence of ball differentiation, in my book.

An XXXL will never handle what a urethane will.

Having a Hype urethane and a Desperado, is like having a solid and a pearl resin:  a Furious and a Fast, a Twisted Fury Solid and a Twisted Fury Pearl, a Virtual Gravity and a Gravity Shift, an Ogre solid and an Ogre SS, a Massacre Red Death and a Massacre, etc. 2 different balls for 2 different purposes.

Just because they''re both urethane does not mean they''re anywhere near closely related. One is solid with a high flaring core, and one is pearl with an asymmetric core that DOES make a difference. If anything, they''re complementary, NOT exclusionary.
