Has anyone put a real weak layout like a 2x4 on a Desperado?? I was considering doing this but wondering if it would be killing the backend so much that I wouldn't be able to carry. That or I was thinking like 115x5x60 or something like that....

With your ball speed (on the high side), I think the 2x4 is the safe one.
(Remember this is an asymmetric core, so that 4" is the MB-PAP distance.)
On an asymmetric, it's generally consider that the shorter pin to PAP, in your case 2", is good for less flare, but it also makes for more length.BUT because of your ball speed, I'd still suggest a 2.5" pin to PAP.
When I have used it, and my ball speed is much less that yours, I needed an awful lot of dry to allow the ball to hook (my rev rate is 250 - 275). I added to tiniest bit of polish to insure some length, but I would not suggest you do that. I drilled mine pin stacked ove the ring finger and MB about 1" right of thumb hole, roughly a 5x4 drilling for me.
This ball should fit between your WD and the Link. I find it to be a dry lanes ball (not burnt heads, just dry-ish).

ok. I have 10 degree axis tilt so I feel higher drill and val angles seem to work better to get it down lane. even with my speed I get a quick response to friction that''s why I couldn''t decide which would be better. that''s what I''m looking for is something under the link that will give me control and length.

Mine is drilled 5.5x55x40 pin over middle /mb just barely right of thumb. I took it to 4k and then hit it with rough buff and then extra shine. Foe me with my lak of speed it is a perfect step down from my polished 5 x 3.5 Hype Urethane. The ball is smooth but still hits real good. (pic of layout is in the link in my signature)

for dry lanes i did this, not sure if thats what u r looking for
pin above middle finger and mb in strong position but i have a lower track than u do with more tilt
i dont think its a good idea to buy a weak ball and put weak layout on it, it will hit just bad, i would recommend buying a strong solid and then put a weak layout on it, so what it will do is rotate and very smooth and even with good carry
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment
When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

I tried that on the one and it hit like a turd.

I'd take to opposite stand. Seismic told my friend don't drill it too weakly. It has a small amount of intermediate differential, but the normal RG DIfferential is not large, only .034". Urethane balls need some flare. Too long a pin to PAP and you reduce the flare by too much to allow the ball to hook enough to be effective. If you don't have a lot of hand, I'd suggest a 4" pin to PAP. If you have some hand, 4.5" seems more than enough.

For your reference, mine was drilled 70x5.25"x30. I think that Ryan has one drilled similar. For my slow speed, this ball goes long but still hooks continuously on dry and flying backend conditions. However, I still need short head oil to make it work. In my situation, I don't think this is a weak drill at all. Regards.
Mine has a 5" pin to PAP. I wouldn't regard that as "too weak", especially with a slower ball speed. Weak is always relative to the bowler's release specs.
