Seismic Ball Help
« on: January 17, 2014, 09:36:46 PM »
I just bought a Venator cause I like low RD/High Diff balls and abosultly love it and was looking for a step down.  According the the Seismic web page the Raging Bull has as high power rating than the Venator and the Stampede is lower.  What is the big difference between the 2 as the #s are almost the same ?

Raging Bull is much, much earlier on the lane. That's all I know, as I don't personally own one. Yet.
In the Bag:
Seismic Evo Hybrid
Seismic Evo Pearl
Seismic LynX
Seismic Axion

Different covers. The stampede has same cover as Venator. Both are super string. Is go euphoric or dominion as a step down.

Dont like the #s on the Euphoric or Dominion.  Need a low a low RG/High Diff

Venator RG 2.485
Euphoric RG 2.55
Dominion RG 2.508

Venator Diff .054
Euphoric Diff .050
Dominion Diff .045

even on the web page the Recommended Accompaniment is Raging Bull Stampede

stampede or Dominion would be good choices, i think Euphoric might be to big of a step.

IMO i would go with a Stampede, polish it and it should be perfect

Nader,

I, like you, favor low RG and high diff balls.  The Venator fits my game extremely well.

In my current arsenal I have 2 Venator's and an AMP.  There is a large gap between the Venator's and AMP so I am in need of a drop down also.

I didn't have success with the Horn core in the past so I am still looking.  I am assuming we will see a pearl Venator very soon.  That should be the perfect dropdown.  I am also considering the 900 Global Network which will be released 2/5.  The numbers are very close.  Venator - 2.485 .054 .027; Network - 2.488 .051 .030  If I don't hear something from Seismic soon on the pearl Venator I may just give that a try.  Here's the vid if you're interested.

JS,

Thanks for the info.  The horn core scares me a little as I like more rounded cores in the low rg/high diff balls.  I too am looking at a Network but not sure how big of a difference .003 ball diff is besides it just being a number if you get what I am saying. I would assume not much but I could be wrong.  I would be really excited for a Venator Pearl or a Eagle Solid with a more aggressive cover but not as aggressive as the Venator as I see a big dip between the two.

I understand that you favor low RG/High Diff equipment...but from my experience with Seismic equipment (I have rolled or owned all except the original Desperado), depending on your lane conditions, I can see you stepping down to a Euphoric easily.  Don't know what surface you are using your Venator at first game...which helps determine your step down.  I just changed my surface on my Venator back to 2000 no polish....it's not the first ball out of the bag for me, but the ball I would go to if I'm having trouble getting around the corner on conitions where carry down has presented itself.  That's where I'm finding the most success for me.  A polished Stampede (as suggested by Mainzer) is a possibility, as that ball is designed to provide you with power and some angularity at the end of the pattern....being that it is the same cover as the Venator, and again, depending on your surface prep....you could possibly reverse the usage of both pieces by starting out with the Stampede on your fresh and possibly stepping down to your Venator.  But again, this is only guess work as my style is probably different from yours and the reason I can use my Venator later in a series.  I really love my Euphoric...as it is a very nice blend of length and controlled power at the pins.  I know the RG may scare you, but the cover on the Euphoric is the same cover as the Blackout...which for me...read the lane pretty early but stayed smooth and controlled throughout its path to the pocket.  The OOB of the Euphoric was surprisingly early for me....though that is dictated by the conditions I'm bowling on as well.  I'm thinking you may benefit from the RG later in a series after wearing away an area on the lanes using the Venator.  Also, it depends on what look you are trying to achieve after using the Venator....the Venator has a very distinguishable motion at the end of the pattern...unique from any other Seismic ball in their lineup.....so your choice also would depend on the MORE or LESS motion your are looking for.  The Longhorn is probably the most angular at the end of the pattern....where you could go for a low RG/medium-high Diff Solaris Platinum to give you that clean read through the heads (after using the Venator) and still a very responsive power arc at the end of the pattern.  Hope you find the ball to fit your needs.  And welcome to the Seismic family.
