This is a non sanctioned tournament so that rule would not apply.

Yes, you may enter as many squads as you would like.
Many bowlers re-enter just to bowl brackets again.

What type of lane conditions are used for the tournament.  Specifics aren't necessary but a general idea would help: THS? Modified THS? Sport? Kegel? PBA? Are the lanes done before each squad? If not, when are they done.

Thanks in advance.

It is a 49 foot pattern. Pretty flat, more oil on the outside part of the lane though.
Yes the lanes are oiled between squads. Last couple of years it took a 195 average to make
the cut to the top 16.

Not really a NABI shot at all. If you pull the ball inside you will not have hold like on a typical flat shot.
The oil is more directed to the outside part of the lane. Close to a reverse block but with more head
oil.

People have been PM me about the shot that is put out. This year it will be 40 feet in length and be
close to the US OPen shot. Now when I say close, I mean same distance and sim. lay down. Our oil machine of course is not the same so there will be variances. I planning on spending the day with the
mechanic on New Years Day to test the shot. If that does not work like I want it to then I will go back to
the shot from last year which was around 46 feet and pretty wet. You will just have to show up to the
tournament and see what happens.

Merry Christmas to everyone.
See you in a couple of weeks....

What's the chances of walking up and getting on a squad?  I'd hate to make that trip and not get on a team.

For next year...

There were no problems walking in and getting on a squad. The 1pm squad on Saturday was almost full, but there was room on the others. I'll let Mr. Hill communicate the official results, entries, and such, but I can provide a bowler's perspective.

The lane conditions were difficult for a number of reasons. The pattern was long and heavy and I mean heavy by anyone's definition of the term. Bowlers with high rev rates were throwing equipment sanded down to 180 grit and throwing it slow: the slower the better. It wouldn't surprise me if others were sanding stuff down below 180. With all of that, bowlers were happy if they could get the ball to hook 5-6 boards.

The pattern was tight and it didn't break down. The lanes were redressed before each squad as promised. Even with the near-full 1pm squad, no one was able to blow a hole in the pattern. Missing out a board or two was a bad idea. There were plenty of buckets, washouts, and 2-10/3-7 leaves to go around. Bigger misses out were 3 counts. Missing in was a crap shoot. Small misses were ok, but anything more than a board and it was nose or crossover.

Bowlers trying to hook the ball at spares - any spare - struggled. Watching some bowlers, you could see how they were used to their ball hooking a couple of boards when throwing at opposite-corner spares. For example we saw plenty of righties missing 7-pins on the right and lefties missing 10-pins on the left.

Personally, I enjoyed the tournament very much and plan to return next year. Anyone looking for a true test of skill should consider making the trip.

Mr. Hill - thanks again. Hope to see you next year.
