At our monthly $20, three game, "winner-take-all" get together, my buds and I were discussing tournaments. We all agreed that we''''d like to bowl in more, but that we rarely have the time to participate in a typical tournament as they tend to be all day affairs.
I was thinking of putting together a shorter tournament with a lower entry fee that would be structured something like this:
Tournament open to first 60 bowlers that sign up and pay the $50 entry fee.
Round 1 - Three games, top 30 advance (scores dropped)
Round 2 - Two games, top 10 advance (scores carry over to round 3)
Round 3 - One game, top 5 advance (scores dropped)
Round 4 - Stepladder (5th vs. 4th, winnner vs. 3rd, etc.)
Prize fund:
1st - $1,000
2nd - $500
3rd - $250
4th - $125
5th - $75
6th thru 10th - $50
Start to finish would be 10 games, which I hope would only take about 4 to 5 hours.
Is this style of tournament something that would interest you? Any suggestions as to how I could adjust the structure to make it more appealing would be appreciated. My goal is to make it fair and fast.
Thanks for your input.
