Received this in an email from Peter Hagin yesterday. If you don't know Peter, he runs a lot of tournaments in the San Francisco East Bay area. His tournaments bring in higher level bowlers and the guy does not put up with sand bagging.
Tournament Bowlers:
The “Anti-State†tournament is here!! The tournament that will put $17 of your $30 entry fee into the prize fund instead of $4.00 or $5.50 is here!! The tournament that will only take $4.00 of your $30 entry fee for expenses instead of $15.50 or $17.00 is here!!
Bowl Bay Area’s Peter Hagin & Diablo Valley Bowl’s Fred Foerster have teamed up to manage & host “California’s Better Prize Fund Tournamentâ€. The event will start on August 9th and run for 5 weekends (3 in August & 2 in September).
Saturday is team event day with squads at 9:30 A.M. & 1:00 P.M. Doubles & Singles is rolled on Sunday with squads @ 9:00 A.M. & 1:30 P.M. 3 of the Saturday’s (August 9th, August 23rd, & September 13th) will have special 7:00 P.M. squads on which either event can be entered.
With 5 Divisions (3 handicap & 2 scratch) the CBPFT will have something for everyone!
Women have their own place at the CBPFT with their own scratch & handicap divisions.
The Anti-State welcomes the scratch bowler by providing their own divisions in all the events, instead of forcing a bowler to enter a handicapped division to play in an optional scratch division.
Teams & bowlers may enter more than one division by paying an extra $20 per person, per event. $17 of that $20 will also go into the prize fund. Bowlers may enter the Team event multiple times, but only doubles & singles once. Teams have to change at least two members to cash twice.
All pages of the entry form can be found at www.bowlbayarea.com (http://www.bowlbayarea.com/) .
The CBPFT will aggressively make sure that bowlers are using an average that is equal to their ability, even if this means not using their USBC average. The entry form itself invites bowlers whose ability greatly exceeds their average to either re-classify themselves or even AVOID THIS TOURNAMENT COMPLETELY!!!!!
Also, any bowler who has won $1000 or more in a handicapped singles tournament must enter at a MINIMUM of 200.
Diablo Valley Bowl is a 32 lane center, so some squads may fill early; we recommend that you get your entry as soon as possible to ensure that you get your preferred day & squad times.
Also, it pays to be a squad leader in August. Bring 6 teams that bowl all events to the CBPFT in August and you’re entered into a special prize fund for squad leaders only. $750 will be up for grabs based on the squad leaders handicapped all events score with a 1st place prize of $250.[/size]

Very interesting. I might have to see about getting on a team for this one.
Thanks for posting Milo!

We have enough Nor Cal bowlers here to field a few teams. I'm completely open to bowling it more than once if anyone is interested. My average isn't going to help with handicap so would prefer to go after the scratch division.
-
Peter always has some interesting side action with brackets and side pots, so there will be plenty of opportunities to make some cash.

Thanks Milo..posted in two groups... "norcal bowlers" and a bay area bowling group which is for sales and social'zn... and on my page....

Sweet, Thanks Jay! This tournament will probably be pretty big. Peter has a large following of scratch and high level handicap bowlers so it should fill the house most of those days.

No, thank you!! but you're welcom :D it's good this guy doesn't stand for baggers...
NORCAL...The capital of sandbagging lol! where you see guys bowl left handed (and don't get reported for it) during "fun" sanctioned leagues, then bowl tourney's right handed....Or, guys who actually admit to sandbagging...OR Tell you to drop 15 to 20 sticks so you can join their team... It's sad, most are my asian/pacific islander brothes..

You know, I have quite a few asian/pacific islander friends I bowl with and I honestly think you guys are way too hard on each other. I bowl TNBA, lots of 'baggin going on there. I bowl the MAMBO (Mexican American) tournaments, a LOT of 'baggin going on there. And I know a lot of white dudes who will cheat and steal every chance to get an extra pin or two as well. It's not a racial thing, it's people! LOL
-
That's why I don't do MAMBO lol..... WAY TOO MANY OF THEM!! they can hold the American River from reaching sacramento!

Yea they can. There is one white dude with the initials of JS (don't want to mention his name here), that is the biggest cheater I have ever seen. Really good bowler, but somehow comes into tournaments with a 190ish average. Maxes out the handicap brackets and pots and cleans up. To me, THAT is what's wrong with bowling.
One perfect example, MAMBO had a tournament in Reno at the stadium a couple of years ago, two full squads with 4 bowlers on a lane. That's 80 lanes for 320 bowlers, twice. ONE guy shot 800, yep, 'ol JS with his 190ish average.
I think he has been re-rated now, but there are still people doing the same kinda thing.

.....all too well, all too well..... people knew, yet did nothing. chased guys like me out of many tourneys. In washington state...Black listed, banned for a year or for life if caught in some leagues and events..
-
The guys who run MAMBO make their money from brackets and raffle tickets. So they want the people who play big money in the brackets I think.
That's why I like bowling Peter Hagin's tournaments. He doesn't allow that kind of non-sense.

who is the initial JS guy im curious now want to see him in future tournaments hehe.
