Sacramento, CA area leagues
« on: June 08, 2012, 02:22:36 PM »
I'm looking for a scratch league in the Sacramento area for this winter season. Full season or half season is fine. Nights prefered are, Monday and Tuesday (maybe Wednesday) with evening times. I'm committed to a scratch league on Thursday nights. LMK

Thanks

We have a 660 scratch trios league in Manteca in the winter. It's 4 games, Peterson point system. It's on Monday nights starting at 7 PM. Might be a bit far for you to drive though.

In Sacramento proper, I would look at Fireside. You can bet that Steve Cook will have a high level scratch league or two in his house. Of course, you might find yourself competing against Leann Hulsenburg, PJ Haggerty etc. LOL

Manteca is about 50 mins. or so away, that's if hwy99 has no traffic. Maybe.... I get off at 5pm from the hospital :D

I would love to bowl with those guys/gals in Cooks League, but I'm not in the same breath as those guys and gals. I do bowl, have met, and know some of those guys - cool dudes. Also, I met Todd Adams (Todds Propshop) through JustRico recently, I think T.A. bowls in Cooks league too.

What about Stockton? any Scratch leagues there?

Stockton has the Bowling Outfitters Classic @ Pacific Ave on Tuesday nights, but it's an set team league I think. You would need to find a team that needs a bowler that would accept you. Very high level, I think the league average is in the mid 220's. If you contact Dave Bolles at the Pacific Bowl Pro Shop, he would know more about availability.

There is a Mixed scratch league @ Pacific on Thursday nights, 5 person teams, somewhat mid level as far as skill goes. Jim Dinubilo has been the secretary of that one for a while so he would be the person to contact about it.

West Lane bowl has a men's classic scratch league on Thursday night, but again, most of those teams have been together a while, so you would need to contact Ron Lubin to see if there was a spot open.

If you don't need scratch, there is a very high level handicap league at West Lane on Wednesday nights. The Budweiser Chase has sponsorship and the pay off is very nice. High skill level league, trios. It's a handicap league, but the handicap is 90% of 250.

I can't think of any others right now, but if I do, I'll let you know.

check out the Honda All Star Draft Scratch league on Tuesdays at Stars Recreaction in Vacaville.  Give Kevin Mecham a call at the pro shop there. He is one of the guys that runs the league.  This is a really good draft league that has bowlers from 240 - 185
Last year was the first year and this year is going to be better.. Had 24 teams of 4.  Honda of Vacaville adds money to the prize fund.  Pretty good pay outs..
Kevin is and captain and so am I.
